Mountain Recreation is looking for Sports Site Supervisors to help keep our sports leagues and programs running smoothly from start to finish. Site Supervisors serve as the on-site point person during games and activities, helping manage facilities, equipment, schedules, participants, officials and overall game-day operations. This role is a great fit for someone who enjoys sports, is comfortable taking the lead, and can communicate confidently with players, coaches, officials and spectators. Site Supervisors help create a safe, welcoming and positive environment while handling the unexpected situations that are part of live sports and recreation.

POSITION DETAILS

Job Title: Sports Site Supervisor

Location: District-wide • Eagle Sports Complex (Eagle, CO), Eagle Pool & Ice Rink (Eagle, CO), Edwards Field House (Edwards, CO), Freedom Park (Edwards, CO), Gypsum Recreation Center (Gypsum, CO)

Employment Type: Part-Time

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt (Overtime Eligible) 

Schedule: Schedule varies based on sports program and league needs and may include evenings, weekends, and holidays. Hours and assignments may fluctuate throughout the year based on seasonal programming.

Supervision Required: Works under the supervision of the Sports & Athletics Coordinators and Sports & Athletics Supervisor 

Supervision Exercised: Provides on-site leadership, direction, and oversight to referees, umpires, volunteer coaches, scorekeepers, facility aides, and other program staff and volunteers during assigned sports programs and activities.


Work Environment and Physical Requirements: Duties are performed in a variety of indoor and outdoor recreation and athletic environments and may include exposure to changing or extreme weather conditions, noise, crowds, and active play. The position requires frequent standing and walking throughout assigned facilities and playing areas, as well as bending, reaching, pushing, pulling, and kneeling. Employees may be required to set up, move, and break down sports equipment and supplies and lift and carry up to 50 pounds unassisted. The position requires sufficient visual and auditory attention to monitor activities, identify potential safety concerns, communicate with participants and staff, and respond appropriately to incidents or emergencies. Job demands may include managing multiple activities at once, responding to conflicts or challenging participant behavior, interacting with large groups, exposure to illness, and periods of continuous or high demand.

Salary: $21.50 – $25.53/hour; staff in this position are eligible for a $1/hour incentive for Spanish/English bilingual and can pass the language competency test.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

General Statement of Duties: Facilitates and oversees the on-site operation of assigned sports leagues, programs, games, and activities with general direction from the Sports Coordinator. Serves as the primary on-site point of contact and helps ensure programs operate safely, efficiently, and in accordance with Mountain Recreation rules, policies, and program expectations. Provides on-site leadership and direction to officials, volunteers, program staff, and participants.


Examples of Duties:

  • Oversees and facilitates assigned sports leagues, games, and programs, including coordinating game schedules, monitoring pace of play, scorekeeping and game-clock operations, and supporting other game-day needs.
  • Provides on-site leadership, direction, and support to referees, umpires, volunteer coaches, scorekeepers, facility aides, and other program staff and volunteers.
  • Monitors games, participants, spectators, and activity areas to promote a safe, positive, respectful, and welcoming recreation environment.
  • Communicates and reinforces Mountain Recreation league rules, facility expectations, policies, schedules, and program information with participants, coaches, officials, volunteers, and spectators.
  • Responds to participant concerns, conflicts, behavioral issues, rule questions, and other program situations using sound judgment and established procedures; escalates significant concerns to the appropriate supervisor when necessary.
  • Monitors assigned facilities and playing areas for safety, security, appropriate use, and readiness for scheduled activities. Identifies and addresses hazards when possible and reports maintenance, safety, vandalism, or security concerns as appropriate.
  • Responds to accidents, injuries, incidents, and emergencies in accordance with established procedures, including contacting appropriate staff or emergency services when necessary and completing required documentation.
  • Sets up, operates, monitors, and breaks down sports equipment, game clocks, scorekeeping equipment, and other program materials; ensures equipment and facilities are properly stored and secured following use.
  • Maintains required program records, reports, forms, scores, and other documentation accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Assists with maintaining clean and orderly facilities and activity areas before, during, and following scheduled programs.
  • Attends required Mountain Recreation trainings, meetings, and sport-specific clinics related to assigned responsibilities.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

COMPETENCIES AND QUALIFICATIONS


Considerable knowledge of: Recreation and athletic program operations; rules, procedures, and general game management practices for assigned sports; recreation facilities and sports equipment; participant and spectator safety practices; and safety guidelines related to assigned programs and facilities.


Skills and abilities: Facilitate and oversee sports programs and activities; understand, communicate, and support consistent application of league and program rules; provide leadership and direction to officials, volunteers, coaches, and program staff; exercise initiative and independent judgment within established policies and procedures; recognize and respond appropriately to safety concerns, incidents, and emergencies; effectively manage conflict and challenging participant or spectator behavior; organize and prioritize multiple responsibilities in an active environment; communicate effectively both verbally and in writing; interact professionally with a variety of participants, staff, volunteers, and community members; and establish and maintain positive, respectful, and cooperative working relationships with all contacts.


Requirements:


Education and experience

  • Must be 18 years of age or older; AND
  • High school diploma or equivalent; AND
  • One (1) year of previous experience in recreation, organized sports, athletic programs, facility operations, game management, or a related field; OR
  • Any satisfactory combination of education, training, and experience that demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the duties of the position.

Certifications

  • Must possess, or be able to obtain within 30 days of hire, current First Aid/CPR certification.
  • May be required to complete sport-specific training, clinics, or certifications based on assigned programs.
