Hollenbeck Palms, a historic non-profit Continuing Care Retirement Community (CCRC) in Los Angeles, is seeking an experienced, mission-driven Director of Human Resources.

In this role, you will lead all campus HR functions, supporting a dedicated team across independent living, assisted living, skilled nursing, and memory care. If you are an empathetic HR leader with expert knowledge of California labor laws and healthcare compliance, we invite you to apply.


  

What You Will Do (Key Responsibilities)

  • Strategic Leadership: Partner with executive leadership to align HR initiatives with our non-profit mission and organizational goals.
  • Talent Acquisition: Lead full-cycle recruitment and onboarding for healthcare professionals (RN, LVN, CNA), culinary, administrative, and facilities staff.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure total compliance with California labor laws, Title 22, California Department of Public Health (CDPH), and Department of Social Services (DSS) regulations.
  • Licensing Requirements: Manage mandatory employee compliance files, including DOJ/FBI fingerprint clearances (Live Scan), TB testing, and health screenings.
  • Employee Relations: Serve as a trusted advisor to management and staff, resolving grievances and cultivating a supportive culture.
  • Benefits & Payroll Support: Oversee the administration of health benefits, retirement plans, workers' compensation, and payroll processing.

Requirements
  • Experience: 5+ years of progressive HR management experience.
  • Industry Background: Strong preference for experience in healthcare, senior living, long-term care, or CCRC environments.
  • Legal Knowledge: Expert-level understanding of California employment laws and wage/hour regulations.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in HR, Business Administration, or a related field (SHRM-SCP or SPHR certification highly desirable).
  • Skills: Excellent communication, strong conflict-resolution abilities, and a high level of empathy.
Salary Description
$125,000 - $135,000 a year
