Mobius Logic is seeking a Computational Mathematician to develop and implement advanced mathematical, analytical, and machine learning solutions that address complex, data-intensive challenges for government and commercial clients across defense, healthcare, and other industries. This role combines applied mathematics, data science, machine learning, and software development to design innovative models, generate actionable insights, and create practical solutions to real-world business, scientific, engineering, and research problems.

The Role 

The Computational Mathematician applies advanced mathematics, statistics, machine learning, and data science techniques to solve complex business, scientific, engineering, and research challenges. This role develops analytical models, transforms data into actionable insights, and collaborates with technical and business stakeholders to design, implement, and maintain innovative data-driven solutions across a variety of industries. 


Key Responsibilities 

  • Apply mathematical, statistical, and computational methods to solve complex business, scientific, engineering, and research problems. 
  • Develop, test, validate, and refine mathematical, statistical, and machine learning models to support analysis, simulation, and prediction. 
  • Build simulation engines and simulation tooling, develop models within simulation environments, and generate synthetic data to train and evaluate reinforcement learning and other unsupervised machine learning models. 
  • Analyze, process, and manipulate large structured and unstructured datasets using statistical and programming tools. 
  • Design, build, and maintain data-driven solutions, analytical tools, and predictive models that support organizational and client objectives. 
  • Research, evaluate, and apply emerging technologies, methodologies, and analytical approaches to support innovation. 
  • Partner with business and technical stakeholders to translate requirements into data solutions, metrics, dashboards, and visualizations. 
  • Perform numerical and statistical analyses to generate insights that support strategic and operational decision-making. 
  • Apply feature engineering and model evaluation techniques to improve model performance and accuracy. 
  • Create reports, charts, dashboards, and other visualizations to effectively communicate analytical findings. 
  • Support data quality, governance, metadata management, and data lineage practices to ensure trustworthy and well-managed data assets. 
  • Collaborate with technical teams to support data security, access controls, and data governance requirements. 
  • Develop software functions, scripts, and applications that automate analyses and support data-driven decision making. 
  • Stay current on advancements in mathematics, machine learning, artificial intelligence, and data science through research and professional development. 
  • Present technical findings and recommendations to technical and non-technical audiences through written reports, presentations, and other deliverables. 
  • Contribute to thought leadership, research publications, conference presentations, and other knowledge-sharing initiatives as appropriate. 
Requirements

Requirements 

  • Master’s degree or higher in Applied Mathematics, Computer Science, Engineering, Statistics or other technical or mathematical fields with 3-5 years’ experience. 
  • At least 2 years’ experience with Python (non-vibe and vibe), R, SAS, or other statistical programming language. 
  • Willingness to learn, and adaptability to new procedures. 
  • Strong foundation in predictive modeling, optimization, and data governance standards. 
  • 3+ years of experience in data science field, including mathematics, statistics, programming and modeling data. 
  • 3+ years of experience in machine learning with data sets of various types: images, sensor data, text. 
  • Experience in problem-solving and critical thinking to analyze and resolve complex problems using expertise in analytical or technical tools and techniques. 
  • Ability to work with other team members and communicate technical needs to and from full stack developers and other team members. 
  • Ability to accurately organize and present ideas in written deliverables and develop tailored and client-ready documents. 
  • Experience building simulation engines and simulation tooling, developing models within simulation environments, and generating synthetic data to train reinforcement learning and other unsupervised or self-supervised machine learning models.
