Fitness Intern
Description

The Fitness Intern is responsible for assisting the Director of Fitness Membership Operations with all things related to the department. These areas include administration, personal training, group exercise, events, marketing, etc. This is a paid internship.

This role will begin the last week of January.

Expect to work 12-15 hours per week.

NOTE: Because this position will involve routine interaction with children, all candidates must successfully obtain the following clearances PRIOR to beginning employment:

  1. OH State Police criminal history record,
  2. OH Child Abuse Clearance, and
  3. FBI Fingerprint-based criminal history clearance.

Essential Job Functions

  • Reports to the Director of Membership Operations
  • Help to make sure gym operations run smoothly
  • Assist with event planning & implementation
  • Work with Director to run marketing page
  • Help with development and execution of group exercise schedule
  • Find & close sales leads for both fitness & sports performance
  • Sit in on meetings with Director
  • Occasional rotation through different roles in department to learn all areas
  • Administrative duties as assigned
  • Attendance at occasional community event

Preferred Qualifications

  • OH Child Abuse Clearance and FBI Fingerprint Criminal History Clearance: Must be dated within the past 5 years and specifically for employment (not volunteer).
  • NOTE: If you do not have already these clearances, you will be provided with instructions when an offer of employment is made. Results can take up to 4-6 weeks. Both clearances must be presented before employment can begin.
  • 18 years of age or older
  • Working towards a degree in fitness, sports management, kinesiology, or a similar field
  • Availability to work a flexible schedule that may include evenings, weekends, and/or holidays as needed
  • Dependable transportation to and from work
  • Language skills: Fluent knowledge of the English language; including the ability to read and interpret written information and speak and understand verbal communication 
  • Ability to fulfill the physical requirements of the position with any reasonable accommodations as necessary
  • Authorized to work in the United States
  • Certificate of liability insurance
  • Highly dependable with a history of consistent attendance and punctuality
