Description

The Business Systems & Automation Analyst is responsible for supporting the development and implementation of improved business tools, workflows, automations, and processes across the organization. 


Job Description:

Working closely with departmental and company leadership, this position identifies business improvement opportunities and translates them into practical, scalable solutions through technology, automation, and process optimization.

The successful candidate will be a technically capable problem-solver who can understand how work is currently performed and build solutions that reduce manual effort, improve accuracy, increase visibility, and enable employees to work more effectively.

The ideal candidate is naturally curious, technically capable, and motivated by solving real business problems. This individual should be comfortable working at the intersection of technology and business operations and capable of learning unfamiliar systems quickly. 

Examples of technologies utilized in this role may include Microsoft 365, Power Automate, Power Apps, SharePoint, SQL databases, ERP systems, CRM systems, reporting platforms, AI-enabled productivity tools, and vendor-supported integration platforms.

Candidates may come from a variety of educational and professional backgrounds. Demonstrated problem-solving ability and a portfolio of successfully developed tools, automations, applications, integrations, or process improvements may be considered alongside traditional years-of-experience requirements. Requirements

Essential Functions:

Support, configure, test, document, and implement business tools and workflow improvements using existing platforms and technologies

Analyze existing business processes and identify opportunities for automation, simplification, standardization, and improved data flow across departments

Develop automations in collaboration with key personnel that reduce repetitive administrative work, duplicate data entry, and manual process steps

Evaluate, prototype, and implement AI-enabled tools and workflows that improve productivity, automate repetitive tasks, enhance information access, and support business decision-making

Assist with system integrations and data exchanges utilizing vendor-supported tools, connectors, and automation platforms

Improve utilization of existing software platforms through enhanced workflows, configurations, dashboards, reporting, and supporting tools

Collaborate cross-functionally with employees and department leaders to understand workflows, pain points, requirements, and desired outcomes

Test and validate solutions prior to deployment and troubleshoot issues following implementation

Create clear technical documentation, process documentation, and user guidance for implemented solutions

Support user adoption, training, and continuous improvement of newly implemented tools and workflows

Maintain awareness of emerging AI, automation, software, and integration technologies applicable to business operations


Desired Technical Skills & Capabilities:

Business application configuration and administration 

Workflow automation and low-code/no-code development platforms 

Microsoft 365, Power Platform, and related productivity tools 

SQL, databases, and data manipulation 

Dashboard, analytics, and reporting development 

AI/LLM tools and practical business AI implementations 

APIs, system integrations, and data exchange methods 

Basic software development and version-control practices

Preferred Qualifications and Experience:

1-5 years of relevant experience in business systems, process improvement, automation, data analysis, application configuration, or related fields preferred

Driven self-starter with a growth mindset and desire to grow within the organization

Attention to detail and the ability to consistently produce accurate, thorough work

Strong analytical and structured problem-solving skills

Strong communication skills and ability to work with both technical and non-technical stakeholders

Works well in collaborative, team-oriented environments

Ability to manage assigned projects from requirements gathering through testing, deployment, documentation, and user adoption in a timely manner

College or technical degree is preferred

Experience with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems, Customer Relationship Management (CRM) systems, and drafting software is beneficial but not required

Experience with Microsoft Power Platform (Power Automate, Power Apps, Power BI, and SharePoint) is highly desirable

Mechanical aptitude is beneficial but not required


Supervisory Responsibility:

This position has no supervisory responsibilities and reports directly to the Sales & Business Development Manager. While organizationally aligned within Sales & Business Development, this role supports process improvement, systems enhancement, and automation initiatives across all departments of the organization.


Work Environment:

This job operates mainly in the office area. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, copiers, and scanners. Employee will also be trained to be proficient with various software packages the company utilizes. Employee occasionally must spend time on the shop floor around moving mechanical parts and loud noises.


Physical Demands:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job  

Able to lift, carry and move a minimum of 25 lbs. 

Must be able to physically use various pieces of office equipment

Must be able to sit for long periods of time

Must be able to look at computer screens for long periods of time


Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:

This is a full-time exempt position located onsite in Bloomfield, CT. Hours of work are generally Monday through Friday, beginning between 7:30 a.m. and 8:30 a.m. and ending between 4:30 p.m. and 5:30 p.m.


Salary & Benefits:

Salary: Annual salary range for this position is $70,000 - $100,000 depending on experience, knowledge, skills and abilities. Potential for a bi-annual discretionary bonus
