About the Role:

RunBuggy is hiring for a Pricing Analyst. This role develops and maintains competitive, accurate, and profitable pricing for vehicle transportation lanes across customer and market segments. This role combines auto logistics expertise with advanced data analysis to evaluate market conditions, transportation costs, customer requirements, and margin performance; build pricing models and dashboards; and identify opportunities to improve profitability and pricing accuracy. The analyst also maintains rate structures, validates pricing and billing data, supports bids and contract pricing, and partners with Sales, Operations, Finance, Data Science, and Engineering to translate complex findings into actionable recommendations.

If this opportunity aligns with your experience and interests, we invite you to continue reading. If not, we encourage you to explore our other open positions - we are always looking for talented professionals to join our team.

 What You Will Be Doing:

  • Develop and maintain lane pricing for vehicle transportation across OEM, bank, dealer, auction, and customer delivery lanes, applying auto logistics knowledge of market conditions, carrier capacity, route characteristics, volume, lead times, geography, seasonality, and service requirements.
  • Benchmark rates against internal history and external market data - industry publications, carrier and broker intelligence, fuel indexes, and bid activity - and identify pricing gaps, underperforming lanes, margin compression, revenue leakage, and opportunities to improve net revenue.
  • Build, update, and audit customer-specific rate tables, tariffs, lane schedules, fuel surcharge programs, and accessorial charges, translating contracts, bid awards, rate sheets, and amendments into accurate configurations in the transportation management and billing systems.
  • Recommend rate changes by origin-destination pair based on cost trends, market benchmarks, service levels, volume commitments, target margins, and the profitability impact of fuel, vehicle type, load characteristics, repositioning, storage, detention, expedited service, and re-delivery.
  • Build pricing models, forecasting tools, and repeatable data-cleaning and validation workflows using advanced Excel, Python, statistical analysis, and machine-learning or AI-assisted methods - including pattern and anomaly detection, lane and customer segmentation, and scenario analysis.
  • Combine large datasets from internal systems, billing records, customer contracts, operational data, and external market research into dashboards reporting lane rates, cost trends, gross and contribution margin, market variance, pricing effectiveness, and customer profitability.
  • Audit pricing and billing data to confirm approved rates, fuel surcharges, effective dates, and contract terms are applied correctly, and reconcile customer pricing, carrier costs, invoices, settlements, and remittances to catch discrepancies before they become billing errors.
  • Support annual and spot-rate bids with lane-level cost analyses, market comparisons, pricing scenarios, and margin recommendations, and price new customers, new lanes, network changes, and volume shifts.
  • Partner with Sales, Operations, Finance, Data Science, and Engineering to align pricing with capacity, service commitments, customer strategy, and financial objectives, and monitor post-implementation performance across quoted, booked, actual, and realized rates.
  • Own pricing governance - approval workflows, version control, effective-date procedures, and accurate origin, destination, customer, lane, carrier, and accessorial master data - and drive correction of obsolete, duplicate, or misconfigured rates.
  • Document pricing methodologies, data sources, assumptions, model logic, AI usage, and audit procedures so analyses are transparent and repeatable.
  • Communicate pricing and data-analysis findings clearly to business leaders - recommended actions, financial impact, assumptions, and risks - and continuously improve pricing processes, reporting automation, data quality, and analytical tools to reduce manual work and increase accuracy.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

What You Bring to the Team by Way of Skills and Experience (Required):

  • 5+ years in pricing analytics within auto logistics, finished-vehicle transportation, vehicle relocation, or a closely related transportation environment, with demonstrated understanding of OEM, bank, dealer, auction, and vehicle delivery networks.
  • Strong knowledge of lane pricing, transportation cost drivers, carrier rates, customer contracts, fuel surcharges, accessorial charges, detention, storage, re-delivery, and expedited transportation.
  • Proven ability to benchmark internal lane pricing against external market data and industry research, analyze large datasets, and translate findings into pricing and margin recommendations - grounded in customer profitability, contribution margin, cost-to-serve, revenue leakage, and pricing variance.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting customer bids, contract negotiations, annual rate reviews, and spot-market pricing.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel - pivot tables, complex formulas, lookups, data reconciliation, scenario analysis, and financial modeling - plus experience building and maintaining pricing, profitability, or financial dashboards and a practical understanding of how AI and machine learning support pricing analysis, forecasting, and data-quality monitoring.
  • Hands-on experience with transportation management, billing, or carrier settlement systems, with the attention to detail to validate pricing data across TMS records, billing data, customer contracts, carrier costs, and external market research and to catch inaccurate, duplicate, or outdated rate records.
  • Strong written and verbal communication - able to document methodologies, assumptions, pricing rules, and model outputs clearly and explain complex findings to Sales, Operations, Finance, Data Science, Engineering, and executive stakeholders - and able to manage multiple pricing initiatives independently, accurately, and on deadline.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience pricing finished-vehicle transportation or vehicle logistics at an OEM, carrier, broker, technology provider, auction, dealer group, or transportation marketplace.
  • Professional experience using Python for data analysis, data cleaning, automation, statistical modeling, or pricing analysis.
  • Experience applying data science methods to forecasting, trend analysis, anomaly detection, segmentation, or optimization.
  • Experience with automotive transportation bids, routing guides, network design, carrier procurement, or transportation procurement.
  • Experience with customer-specific tariffs, rate tables, pricing schedules, contract amendments, and effective-date management.
  • Experience with fuel-indexed pricing and customer-specific fuel surcharge formulas.
  • Experience using SQL, cloud data platforms, or business intelligence tools beyond Tableau.
  • Experience developing automated pricing or profitability reporting pipelines.
  • Experience with predictive analytics, optimization models, machine learning, or AI-enabled analytical tools.
  • Familiarity with common transportation data sources, market-rate benchmarks, fuel indexes, carrier cost data, and industry research.
  • Experience with a TMS, transportation billing, freight audit, revenue management, and/or transportation accounting systems.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced technology company or transportation environment with evolving data sources, processes, and customer requirements.
