Job Description

The Boys Lead for the Beach National Team Development Program (BNTDP) is a regular full-time position, and this position involves leading essential activities, projects, and logistics for Beach Youth and Junior National Team Programs, aligning with the NTDP's mission to identify, recruit, and develop high-potential youth volleyball players. The position requires extended hours and extensive travel, including nights, weekends, and holidays, with both domestic and international trips. Work often takes place on the beach in varied weather conditions. The ideal candidate should demonstrate a growth mindset, ability to handle multiple competing demands, and flexibility to accommodate a rigorous travel schedule.

This position is located in Torrance, CA. The successful applicant must be prepared for non-traditional work hours and challenging outdoor conditions.

Requirements

Summary of Duties and Responsibilities include but are not necessarily limited to:

  • Model and uphold a culture of respect, psychological safety, and athlete-centered care in all interactions with athletes, coaching staff, and medical team members, recognizing that the foundation of elite performance is built on trust. 
  • Serve as the Team Leader for BNTDP International and/or Domestic events.  
  • Lead the implementation of the Beach Youth and Junior National Team Programs.  
  • Support the evaluation and continuous improvement of departmental processes, including program logistics, registration, and internal tracking and coordination (commonly managed via tools such as Smartsheet), to maximize effectiveness. 
  • Coordinate assigned regional, national, and international BNTDP events and competitions.
  • Develop individualized athlete development plans following each program, incorporating coaches' post-program evaluation feedback, then submit them through the development pathway.
  • Lead essential activities, projects, logistics, and support for the BNTDP. 
  • Lead aspects of the Beach Collegiate National Team Training Block and Competition.  
  • Lead the planning, organization, and scheduling of events—coordinating with organizers, select independent contractors (ICs), and scheduling training sessions—while utilizing Smartsheet to track progress on each task.
  • Support all aspects of the Beach Accelerator.
  • Act as primary contact for male junior athletes and their parents.
  • Collect and disseminate event results and feedback. 
  • Facilitate the Boys' NTDP depth chart by inputting athlete evaluation data from VolleyballLife after each qualifier and scouted event, cross-referencing with the Scouting Network to generate invitation lists and keep rankings current each cycle.  
  • Administers event registration and fielding program inquiries for the Beach NTDP. 
  • Handles part of equipment inventory, packing, shipping, and gear and equipment ordering. 
  • Contribute to the development and execution of department-wide marketing and social media strategies.
  • Other duties and projects as assigned.  

Qualifications:

  • 5 + year’s experience leading national-level sport management programs preferably in the sport of volleyball.
  • A minimum of 2 years’ work experience at the NGB and/or at the USOPC level is preferred. 
  • Willingness to travel extensively domestically and internationally. 
  • Proficiency with inventory software and database systems. 
  • Knowledge of beach and indoor volleyball. 
  • Knowledge of USA Volleyball structures and operations is highly desirable.
  • Experience working with youth and collegiate athletes. 
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel. 
  • Strong organizational and attention to detail skills. 
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Bachelor's degree (Sports Management, Physical Education, Exercise Science, or related field preferred.
  • Master’s degree in a relevant field is a plus.
  • Must be able to successfully pass a USAV background screening (before the hire date).
  • Must successfully complete SafeSport training within two weeks of the hire date. Training must be maintained throughout employment.

Salary:  $70,304.00
