Boater's World Marine Centers is seeking an experienced Parts Manager to lead the Parts Department at our Lake Placid, Florida location.


Our Parts Department plays a critical role in everything we do. From keeping marine technicians productive and repair orders moving to supporting customers and maintaining the right inventory, the Parts Manager is responsible for making sure the department operates accurately, efficiently, and with a high level of service.


As Parts Manager, you'll oversee the day-to-day operation of the department, manage parts inventory, purchasing and receiving, support the Service Department, lead and develop parts team members, maintain vendor and manufacturer relationships, and ensure customers and technicians get the right parts when they need them.


We're looking for someone who understands that a strong Parts Department isn't simply about stocking shelves—it's about inventory accuracy, organization, urgency, communication, and supporting the entire dealership operation.

What You'll Do

Parts Department Leadership

  • Lead the daily operations of the Lake Placid Parts Department
  • Manage, coach, train, and support Parts Department team members
  • Establish daily priorities and maintain an organized, efficient department
  • Ensure technicians, service advisors, customers, and other departments receive timely parts support
  • Maintain strong communication between Parts, Service, Sales, and dealership leadership
  • Establish expectations for accuracy, organization, customer service, and follow-through
  • Identify opportunities to improve department processes and overall performance
  • Support hiring, onboarding, training, and development of Parts Department employees

Inventory Management & Control

  • Maintain accurate parts inventory and appropriate stocking levels based on dealership demand
  • Monitor inventory movement, usage, aging, and availability
  • Conduct regular cycle counts and assist with physical inventory counts
  • Research and resolve inventory discrepancies
  • Maintain accurate bin locations and ensure parts are properly labeled, stored, and organized
  • Identify fast-moving, slow-moving, obsolete, and excess inventory
  • Make informed stocking decisions based on service demand, historical usage, seasonality, and dealership needs
  • Monitor special-order parts and ensure proper follow-up
  • Maintain inventory accuracy within Lightspeed or other dealership management systems
  • Help minimize unnecessary inventory while ensuring critical parts remain available

Purchasing, Receiving & Vendor Management

  • Manage parts ordering and replenishment from manufacturers, distributors, and vendors
  • Ensure incoming shipments are received, verified, and entered accurately
  • Review purchase orders, packing slips, invoices, shortages, and discrepancies
  • Coordinate returns, cores, warranty parts, damaged shipments, and vendor credits
  • Maintain productive relationships with OEM representatives, distributors, and outside vendors
  • Monitor backordered and special-order parts and communicate delays proactively
  • Identify sourcing alternatives when necessary to keep repairs moving
  • Ensure purchasing decisions align with department needs and company expectations

Service Department Support

  • Work closely with the Service Manager, Service Advisors, and Marine Technicians to identify and source required parts
  • Ensure technicians have the correct parts available to complete scheduled repairs efficiently
  • Review upcoming service work and proactively identify parts requirements
  • Help prevent repair delays caused by missing, incorrect, or untracked parts
  • Coordinate parts staging for active repair orders
  • Research diagrams, part numbers, supersessions, and manufacturer information as needed
  • Maintain clear communication regarding backorders, special orders, and expected delivery dates
  • Support warranty repairs and manufacturer requirements related to parts

Customer Service & Counter Operations

  • Provide knowledgeable and professional assistance to retail and internal customers
  • Help customers identify the correct marine parts and accessories for their needs
  • Research parts using OEM catalogs, diagrams, and electronic lookup systems
  • Provide accurate pricing and availability information
  • Handle customer questions, concerns, returns, and special orders professionally
  • Ensure customers receive timely follow-up regarding ordered parts
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and professional parts counter and storage area

Department Performance

  • Take ownership of the overall organization and performance of the Parts Department
  • Monitor inventory accuracy, fill rates, aging inventory, special orders, purchasing, and department productivity
  • Identify bottlenecks and implement processes that improve efficiency and accuracy
  • Help control inventory investment while maintaining appropriate parts availability
  • Support departmental sales and profitability goals
  • Work closely with dealership leadership to identify opportunities for improvement
  • Ensure department processes support the continued growth of the Lake Placid dealership

The right person can manage inventory and purchasing while also understanding what technicians and customers need. You should be comfortable balancing multiple priorities, solving problems, and taking ownership of the department.

Requirements
  • Previous parts management, assistant parts management, or comparable dealership parts experience
  • Strong knowledge of parts department operations, inventory control, purchasing, and receiving
  • Experience supporting a dealership or service environment
  • Strong inventory management and organizational skills
  • Ability to research and accurately identify parts using electronic catalogs and manufacturer resources
  • Experience managing special orders, backorders, returns, cores, and vendor credits
  • Strong leadership and team-development skills
  • Excellent customer-service and communication abilities
  • Ability to prioritize multiple requests and operational demands in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong attention to detail and follow-through
  • Comfortable working with dealership management systems and electronic parts catalogs
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous Marine Parts Manager or Assistant Parts Manager experience
  • Marine dealership experience
  • Experience with Lightspeed or a similar dealership management system
  • Familiarity with Mercury, Yamaha, Suzuki, Honda, or other major marine manufacturers
  • Experience with OEM parts catalogs and manufacturer ordering systems
  • Knowledge of outboard engines and marine systems
  • Experience managing parts inventory, cycle counts, and physical inventories
  • Experience supporting marine technicians and service operations
  • Previous supervisory or department leadership experience


Marine dealership experience is strongly preferred, but candidates with substantial powersports, automotive, RV, or other dealership parts-management experience may also be considered if they have the ability to quickly learn marine products and systems.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
  • Ability to bend, kneel, reach, and climb as needed
  • Ability to safely lift and move parts and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to work around boats, engines, trailers, tools, and dealership equipment
  • Ability to work in both indoor warehouse/parts environments and outdoor dealership areas as needed
