Description

• Design, architect, configure, deploy, upgrade, and support various storage and backup platforms and associated management tools 

• Diagnose and troubleshoot storage systems and other related technologies 

• Adhere to engineering and architecture standards and participate in technical review meetings as required 

• Participate in the evaluation, deployment, management, and integration of new technologies in alignment with other engineers, architects, and technical service lanes 

• Provide incident support and participate in on-call rotation during off-hours and weekends 

• Create and maintain documentation: logical/physical diagrams, run books, and other technical engineering documents 

• Demonstrate initiative and commitment to optimizing systems and processes 

• Oversee the installation of new storage hardware and software according to standard operating procedures 

• Oversee updates to hardware, operating systems, and software as needed to provide required functionality and security 

• Ensure systems are monitored and statistics relevant to capacity, performance, utilization, etc., are collected and regularly reviewed • Keep abreast of current developments in storage and backup technology to assist Federal staff in assessing the future direction of storage and backup technology

Requirements

Top Secret SCI w/ Maryland Polygraph Required

Hands on NetApp experience a MUST

• Hands-on engineering experience with NetApp and other storage technologies and concepts (Storage Area Network - SAN & Network Attached Storage - NAS) 

• Must have knowledge and understanding of protocols such as S3, CIFS, NFS, iSCI, and Fiber Channel Block Storage (SAN) 

• Experience with capacity planning and sizing storage and backup environments (to include Veritas NetBackup, Cohesity, Rubrik, & CommVault 

• Experience in performance tuning and optimizing storage and backup environments • Experience with data center migrations and storage replication technologies 

• Senior-level experience with the design, development, implementation, and maintenance of large-scale systems, preferably across multiple hardware platforms and data centers 

• Strong understanding of high availability concepts with practical experience and implementation of key components in storage environments • Strong understanding of fundamental hardware concepts: disk, memory, CPU, NIC, HBA, firmware, RAID, performance concepts (I/O, paging, swapping, system calls), iSCSI, Fiber Channel, Ethernet 

• Strong understanding of essential TCP/IP concepts: TCP, UDP, ICMP, SMTP, SNMP, LDAP, DNS, NTP, etc..

• Experience connecting storage arrays to Hypervisor Technologies (NUTANIX, VMWARE VCF, OpenStack). 

• Understanding of security best practices and federal hardening requirements (FISMA, STIG, etc.)

• CompTIA Security+ or similar certification for IAT Level II DoD 8570 compliance 

• Proficient written and oral communication skills

• Strong collaborative attitude and ability to work in a team environment

• Ability to take direction
