Senior FP&A Analyst

MeatEater, Inc. is seeking a highly motivated person to join our team as a Senior FP&A Analyst to support our Media business.


The Senior FP&A Analyst will play a key role in supporting the company by providing accurate financial analysis, preparing reports, and helping with budgeting, forecasting, and financial modeling. This position will collaborate with various departments and brands to ensure that strategic decisions are data-driven. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills, a solid understanding of financial principles and GAAP, and a passion for the outdoor industry.


Preferred position location is in Bozeman or Missoula, Montana, or Hailey, Idaho. Relocation assistance available. Will consider remote work with periodic travel for the right candidate. 


Requirements

Core Responsibilities

  • Analyze financial data to identify trends, variances, and areas for improvement.
  • Assist with budgeting and forecasting. Own monthly and quarterly forecasting and budget-vs-actual variance analysis.
  • Build and maintain recurring management reporting and dashboards.
  • Provide actionable insights to help improve operational efficiency and cost control.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, particularly Sales and Media Production, to understand business operations and provide financial insights to guide decision making.
  • Develop financial models and decision support analyses to guide business initiatives, strategic planning, and executive decision making.
  • Monitor and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to assess company performance.
  • Assist with ad hoc financial analysis and reporting as needed.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field (required).

Experience

  • 5+ years of experience in corporate finance, private equity, or investment banking.
  • Experience working in and or supporting sales and creative leaders in Media and omni channel retail businesses.
  • Working knowledge of revenue recognition principles and contract based or sponsorship partnership revenue, with the ability to interpret commercial agreements and model their revenue and commission implications.
  • Demonstrated experience and genuine curiosity for developing process automation and advancing FP&A capabilities through AI, systems, and modern tools.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel experience, including Power Query and advanced functions an analyst should be able to utilize (e.g., XLOOKUP, INDEX/MATCH, SUMIFS, PivotTables) along with financial modeling and business intelligence tools (experience with Power BI, NetSuite, or similar is a plus).
  • Knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, and budgeting processes. Understanding recognition principles and contract based or partnership revenue, with the ability to interpret commercial agreements and model their revenue and commission implications.
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills and experience collaborating with cross-functional teams, as well as the ability to translate complex data into clear insights, visualizations, and presentations for non-financial stakeholders.
  • Detail-oriented and organized, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
