TECHNICIAN, MEMORIAL ENGRAVER
Description

Summary & Objective

Executes memorial inscriptions for Our Lady Queen of Heaven and Our Lady of Mercy. Assists on general memorial operations. TRAINING is available. 

Essential Functions

  • Executes Sandblast and Incimar inscriptions for two cemeteries.
  • The Memorials Department has to perform duties in and out of the cemeteries on special events and Holidays, which includes signaling and directing traffic on those special visitation days.
  • You are also required to cover the duties on the absence of a member of the installation crew.
  • Bronze marker restoration. 
  • Take precise measurements to ensure correct placement, spacing, and alignment of inscriptions and designs
  • Inspect completed work against work orders/proofs for accuracy in spelling, dates, and layout
  • Perform touch-up and detail work as needed (hand tools, grinders, polishing)
  • Maintain sandblasting cabinet/booth, compressor, and related equipment; report maintenance issues
  • Maintain inventory of stencil material, abrasive media, and consumables
  • Follow all safety protocols for respiratory protection

Other Duties

  • Provides orientation to new employees as needed.
  • Maintain your mandatory skill updates.
  • Comply with all policies, local, state and federal laws and regulations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibility

  • May serve as an interim department leader depending on need

Physical Requirements

  • Physical Activity– Position requires frequent walking, lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling of sandbags, foot stones, and markers weighing 50-150 Ibs.
  • Must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and push/pull up to 250+ pounds, walk, climb stair or ladders, stand on feet for extended periods of time, etc.

Requirements

Knowledge & Experience Requirements

  • High School diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • Layout Design experience preferred.
  • Must have knowledge of computer office software
  • Must be able to read, write and understand the English language
