A day in the life...

This position assists the Director of Engineering to keep all equipment in good repair with minimum downtime by providing day-to-day maintenance of the hotel. Complete maintenance work orders from all departments on a timely basis by following hotels standard operating procedures. Continually work towards and support the improvement of engineering service to guests, other departments, and staff.


Engineering & Maintenance Operations

  • Perform      routine maintenance and repairs throughout the hotel, including guest      rooms, public areas, back-of-house spaces, and exterior grounds.
  • Troubleshoot      and repair plumbing, electrical, HVAC, mechanical, painting, carpentry,      and general building systems.
  • Complete      preventative maintenance tasks according to departmental schedules and      brand standards.
  • Respond      promptly to maintenance requests and guest service calls.
  • Conduct      regular inspections of hotel facilities and identify necessary repairs.
  • Maintain      tools, equipment, and work areas in a clean, safe, and organized      condition.
  • Ensure      all maintenance work complies with applicable safety regulations and hotel      policies.
  • Flexibility      on scheduling: weekends, weekdays and holidays based on business needs

Additional Responsibility includes Leadership & Department Support

  • Serve      as the primary backup to the Chief Engineer.
  • Assist      with daily department planning and prioritization of maintenance      activities.
  • Provide      direction and support to maintenance staff as needed.
  • Monitor      work order completion and ensure timely follow-up.
  • Communicate      facility issues and operational concerns to hotel leadership.
  • Assist      in training new maintenance team members on departmental standards and      procedures.

Acting Department Manager Responsibilities

When the Chief Engineer is off-property, unavailable, on vacation, or otherwise unable to perform departmental duties, this position will:

  • Assume      leadership responsibilities for the Engineering Department.
  • Prioritize      and assign daily work orders.
  • Coordinate      emergency repairs and facility responses.
  • Serve      as the primary engineering contact for hotel leadership.
  • Coordinate      with vendors and contractors as needed.
  • Ensure      all life-safety systems remain operational.
  • Communicate      major maintenance issues and operational impacts to hotel management.
  • Maintain      departmental productivity and service levels.

Guest Service Responsibilities

  • Interact      professionally and courteously with guests at all times.
  • Respond      quickly and effectively to guest maintenance concerns.
  • Maintain      guest privacy and confidentiality while working in occupied rooms.
  • Support      the hotel's commitment to exceptional hospitality and guest satisfaction.

Pay:

$22 per h/r plus tips

Requirements

  

Qualifications Required

  • High      School Diploma or GED.
  • Minimum      2-3 years of facilities maintenance, hotel engineering, or related      experience.
  • Working      knowledge of: 
    • HVAC       systems
    • Plumbing
    • Electrical       systems
    • Carpentry
    • Painting       and drywall repair
    • General       building maintenance
  • Ability      to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physically demanding work.
  • Ability      to work flexible schedules including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Preferred

  • Previous      hotel engineering experience.
  • Technical      certifications related to HVAC, electrical, plumbing, or building      maintenance.
  • Experience      supervising or leading a team.
  • Knowledge      of preventative maintenance software systems.
