Under supervision of the Tribal Administrator, the Information Technology Specialist (ITS) performs a variety of technical duties in support of the Tribe’s information systems and provides technical desktop support to users. The ITS will troubleshoot hardware and software problems associated with the Tribe’s computers, telecommunications, and related equipment; install hardware equipment and software applications; assess user training needs; make recommendations regarding hardware and software acquisitions; and perform other related duties as assigned. Positions at this level receive only occasional instruction or assistance as new or unusual situations arise and are fully aware of the operating procedures and policies of the work unit.
Minimum Qualifications
· Strong communication and facilitation skills with all levels of an organization
· Ability to critically analyze and creatively solve problems
· Demonstrated understanding of information technology systems including, but not limited to, database management, computer networking, and telecommunications systems
· Ability to interpret policy directives, changes, and program compliance
· Ability to collect data and prepare written reports based on given information
· Demonstrated understanding of software administration including purchasing and tracking volume licensing
· Demonstrated project management skills including development, implementation, and evaluation of short- and long-term projects
· Demonstrated ability to work independently, including setting and meeting critical deadlines and timely follow-up on assignments
Preferred Qualifications
· Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
· Two (2) years of increasingly responsible experience performing technical support and network administration on personal computers and peripheral equipment
· Experience with technologies such as: Microsoft 365 ecosystem (Exchange Online, Teams, OneDrive, SharePoint, Entra, Intune), Active Directory, VMWare, Veeam, Sophos, Android and iOS platforms
· Experience collaborating with Native American communities
