POSITION: Division Lead – Energy Services
POSITION SUMMARY
The Division Lead – Energy Services leads and grows the Energy Services Division in support of AEI’s strategic goal to provide comprehensive services to those who own, manage, operate and invest in commercial real estate assets. The Division Lead is responsible for developing and implementing strategic growth strategies, expanding client relationships, building AEI’s market presence, leading service innovation, and ensuring technical quality across the division. The Division Lead is accountable for meeting the revenue growth and profitability targets of the Energy Services Division.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The Division Lead will have the following responsibilities:
- Represents AEI’s Energy Services practice externally, including serving as a thought leader and brand builder throughout the CRE and facilities management communities
- Represents AEI’s Energy Services Division internally via support of the business development team in responding to opportunities, qualifying and building relationships and collaborating with AEI’s other Division Leads, including Capital Planning and Resilience groups
- Supports the sales of others within the company while also generating opportunities directly
- Develops and maintains annual action plans and quarterly reporting for the division
- Contributes to the creation of an annual budget for the division and responsible for P&L oversight of the division
- Responsible for divisional hiring, staff development, team building, and retention
- Leads, manages, and trains internal staff and promotes a positive work environment
- Provides guidance to in-house operations regarding best practices
- Supports AEI’s Risk Management team in compliance with risk management best practices
- Maintains and promotes strong and efficient working relationships with internal and external client teams with excellent proactive customer service
- Lead the refinement and expansion of Energy Services offerings, including energy audits, benchmarking, building performance standards compliance, decarbonization planning, retro-commissioning, electrification planning, utility incentive support, and portfolio-level energy strategy
- Serve as a visible market-facing leader for AEI through client presentations, conferences, webinars, publications, and industry relationship-building
QUALIFICATIONS
We are seeking a professional, dedicated, enthusiastic individual with experience in the following:
- Demonstrated previous success leading and managing a team of both internal and external resources
- Relevant technical experience necessary to oversee a team of energy engineers, qualify customer needs, and implement innovations in our services
- Proven track record growing a business unit, department or division
- Excellent communication, client management, and financial leadership skills
- A positive and proactive attitude with demonstrated achievements in AEI’s areas of expertise and/or business and commitment to AEI’s shared values
- Professional, high energy, strategic thinker, and self-starter
- Exemplary customer service and relationship management skills
- Ability to remain detail-oriented while working at a fast pace
- Demonstrated pursuit of continuing education in leadership, coaching, or staff engagement
- Sales and goal oriented, and a competitive attitude with demonstrated achievements in business
- Proven ability to proactively develop and manage client relationships
EDUCATION / LICENSES & CERTIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, architecture, sustainability, environmental science, building science, construction management, or related field preferred
- Certified Energy Manager (CEM) preferred
- LEED AP or LEED Green Associate preferred
- Professional Engineer (PE) in Mechanical, Certified Decarbonization Professional (CDP), WELL AP, Certified Energy Auditor (CEA), High Performance Building Design Professional (ASHRAE HBDP), Building Energy Modeling Professional (ASHRAE BEMP) certifications or designations a plus
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- The work environment may be both indoors and outdoors. Indoor work can take place in any number of settings including offices, retail spaces, commercial sites, and multi-family housing. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Outdoor work requires the ability to effectively perform work in all types of weather conditions. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, type, handle office and/or field equipment, speak and hear. The employee may occasionally be required to stand, walk, balance, kneel or crouch. The employee may be required to travel independently and lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to focus.
