Description
CarShield is seeking an experienced Network Engineer to join its growing Infrastructure team. In this role, you will design, implement, monitor, and manage the organization's local and wide area networks, helping maintain secure, reliable connectivity and maximum availability for users across the business.
In this role, you will:
- Design and implement new network solutions and improve the efficiency, security, and reliability of existing networks.
- Install, configure, and support network infrastructure, including routers, proxy servers, switches, WAN accelerators, DNS, and DHCP.
- Configure firewalls, routing, and switching to maximize network performance and security.
- Administer web application firewalls and manage SSL/TLS certificates, including issuance, installation, and renewal.
- Monitor network performance, investigate faults, and identify opportunities to improve availability and efficiency.
- Troubleshoot LAN/WAN, VPN, routing, switching, and firewall issues from end to end and implement durable resolutions.
- Maintain network equipment by applying current, approved firmware releases.
- Document network configurations, incidents, troubleshooting activities, and resolutions within the IT service management environment.
- Communicate network status, risks, and relevant updates to key stakeholders.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements
- Ability to work fully on-site at CarShield's St. Peters, Missouri, office five days per week.
- Bachelor's degree in Information Systems or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- At least four years of networking experience and two years of cloud engineering experience.
- Strong understanding of switches, routers, firewalls, and VPN appliances, including technologies such as Cisco ASA/Firepower, Nexus, Catalyst, and Check Point.
- Strong working knowledge of TCP/IP, subnetting, IPsec, network segmentation, VRFs, switching, VLANs, routing, and load balancers.
- Strong understanding of identity management, federated identity systems such as Microsoft ADFS, multifactor authentication, and Active Directory integration with cloud applications and Azure AD.
- Current knowledge of DevOps practices, containerization, security, and observability.
- Scripting experience supporting automation and infrastructure-as-code deployments using Terraform, Azure Resource Manager, Azure PowerShell, and Azure CLI.
- Knowledge of SNMP monitoring and device management, including SNMP v2c and v3, community strings, traps and polling, and MIBs/OIDs.
- Experience working in an IT service management environment with strong technical documentation practices.
- Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot complex operational issues efficiently and drive them to resolution.
- Ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment, and collaborate effectively with direction when needed.
- Strong written, verbal, and presentation skills, including the ability to explain complex technical concepts to varied audiences.
