POSITION OVERVIEW

The On-Call Retail Sales Associate provides flexible retail support at the Leadership Center, Camp Wildwood, Camp Wai Lani, Camp Dorothy Thomas, pop-up shops, encampments, signature events, and other council activities.

This position processes merchandise sales, provides excellent customer service, supports inventory and merchandising, and may independently open and close camp trading posts or pop-up locations after completing required training.

This position has no regular schedule or guaranteed minimum hours. Shifts are offered based on staffing needs, seasonal demand, events, camp activity, and the employee’s stated availability. Required training and approved scheduled hours will be paid.

ESSENTIAL FUNTIONS

  • Open, operate, and close the Leadership Center store, camp trading posts, and mobile or pop-up retail locations according to established procedures.
  • Process cash and credit card sales using the point-of-sale system and accurately issue receipts, refunds, credits, or exchanges.
  • Count and reconcile cash drawers, complete daily sales reports, and maintain the security of money, merchandise, keys, and equipment.
  • Provide welcoming, mission-aligned customer service to Girl Scouts, families, volunteers, staff, and visitors.
  • Educate customers about Girl Scout uniforms, insignia placement, badges, patches, program materials, and related merchandise.
  • Assist customers with merchandise selection and communicate customer feedback, requests, or concerns to the Retail Operations Manager.
  • Stock, organize, price, label, and merchandise products while maintaining clean and inviting retail spaces.
  • Assist with receiving inventory, merchandise transfers, cycle counts, seasonal inventories, and physical inventory.
  • Support eCommerce fulfillment and in-store pickup when assigned.
  • Prepare, transport, set up, operate, and break down camp stores and pop-up retail locations.
  • Promptly report cash discrepancies, inventory concerns, equipment problems, connectivity issues, or other operational needs.
  • Perform related duties as assigned.

Work Schedule & Expectations

  • No minimum number of hours or regular weekly schedule is guaranteed.
  • Shifts may include weekdays, evenings, weekends, encampments, signature events, and seasonal peak periods.
  • Assignments may be scheduled in advance or offered on shorter notice.
  • Employees must provide current availability and respond promptly to shift requests.
  • No council laptop will be provided. Employees will use designated onsite point-of-sale systems and retail equipment.
  • Paid training will be provided in point-of-sale operations, inventory, cash handling, customer service, uniform and insignia guidance, and store opening and closing procedures.

 

 

Starting rate: $16.00/per hour

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS:

Retail, customer service, sales, or cash-handling experience preferred.

Dependable, prompt, trustworthy, and able to work independently.

Strong customer service, communication, organizational, and basic mathematical skills.

Comfortable learning point-of-sale and inventory systems.

Ability to stand for extended periods and regularly bend, reach, lift, and carry approximately 10-20 pounds.

Reliable transportation, a valid driver’s license, satisfactory driving record, and proof of automobile insurance.

Knowledge of Girl Scout uniforms, insignia, and programming is preferred but not required.
