Threshold’s Acoustics Summer Internship is designed to provide a broad introduction to consulting practice from measurements and modeling to design reviews and client communication. Interns will gain exposure to real-world project work, balancing technical analysis with design collaboration, working alongside experienced consultants, taking on supporting tasks while being exposed to a wide range of project types and design phases. Candidates should be curious, detail-oriented, and eager to learn how acoustics shapes the human experience within the built environment.
Interns will gain experience across a wide range of consulting activities which vary depending on project timing and needs. Experiences often include:
- Providing support to project teams through drawing markups, technical writing, and detail reviews.
- Helping to prepare materials for client meetings, site visits, and field reports, gaining insight into professional communication and project delivery.
- Assisting with room acoustic and vibration measurements, data collection, and processing.
- Contributing to calculations and modeling efforts, including mechanical noise modeling, ray tracing, and room acoustic modeling.
