SUMMARY
Under the general supervision of the Branch Manager, the Assistant Branch Manager I supports the daily leadership, service, sales, operational, and compliance activities of the assigned branch. This role provides guidance and oversight to branch team members, reinforces consistent execution of Bank policies and procedures, and helps ensure a high-quality client experience. The Assistant Branch Manager I serves as a first-level branch leader and may assume responsibility for branch operations in the absence of the Branch Manager.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Ability to work a flexible schedule and provide support at multiple branch locations, including same-day travel between locations when business needs require.
Client Experience & Relationship Management
- Model and reinforce a client-focused service culture by ensuring team members deliver responsive, accurate, professional service across in-person, phone, and digital interactions.
- Assist with resolving complex client concerns, escalations, and service issues in a timely manner while balancing client needs, Bank policy, and risk management expectations.
- Support relationship deepening by identifying client needs, recommending appropriate solutions, and connecting clients with internal partners as needed.
- Promote client adoption of digital banking tools and self-service capabilities to enhance convenience, engagement, and retention.
- Ensure client interactions are handled consistently with Bank standards for service quality, confidentiality, professionalism, and follow-through.
Team Leadership & Collaboration
- Provide day-to-day guidance, coaching, and support to assigned branch staff in alignment with Bank policies, procedures, service standards, and performance expectations.
- Conduct regular check-ins and team huddles to reinforce sales, service, operational, and compliance priorities.
- Support onboarding, training, and skill development for branch team members, including teller, platform, digital banking, and relationship management capabilities.
- Monitor daily workflow and staffing coverage to support efficient service execution.
- Foster a positive, accountable, and inclusive team environment that supports collaboration, professional growth, and consistent achievement of branch goals.
Sales & Business Development
- Support achievement of branch sales, referral, service, and relationship growth goals through follow-up and consistent execution of branch routines.
- Maintain current knowledge of Bank products, services, digital solutions, and referral processes to support client needs and team effectiveness.
- Participate in client outreach, community engagement, and business development activities that support branch visibility, retention, and growth.
- Partner with the Branch Manager to review performance trends and support action plans that improve sales and service results.
Branch Operations & Transactional Support
- Oversee daily branch activities, including opening and closing procedures, cash controls, transaction approvals, overrides, and operational workflow within assigned authority.
- Ensure teller and platform transactions, account maintenance, and client requests are completed accurately, efficiently, and in accordance with Bank procedures.
- Identify and resolve issues related to staffing coverage, service flow, transaction accuracy, and operational controls.
- Serve as the primary branch leader in the absence of the Branch Manager, escalating matters appropriately and ensuring continuity of branch operations.
- Support multiple branch locations or flex across roles as business needs require.
Compliance & Risk Management
- Ensure branch activities are performed in compliance with applicable banking regulations, Bank policies, operational procedures, security protocols, and confidentiality standards.
- Support audit readiness by monitoring adherence to operational controls, completing required reports, and addressing exceptions or follow-up items in a timely manner.
- Reinforce fraud prevention, loss prevention, cash handling, security, and risk management practices with branch staff.
- Maintain accurate documentation for transactions, approvals, client interactions, and required branch records.
- Ensure assigned equipment, branch supplies, and the branch facility are maintained in a neat, professional, secure, and functionally efficient manner.
Administrative & Professional Responsibilities
- Demonstrate and promote the Bank’s culture, values, and commitment to community engagement, financial education, and professional development.
- Complete administrative, reporting, scheduling, and follow-up tasks required to support branch performance.
- Participate in training, meetings, and professional development activities to maintain job knowledge and strengthen leadership effectiveness.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support branch operations, client service, and overall Bank objectives.

CERTIFICATES/LICENSES
Maintains satisfactory NMLS registration under the regulations of the SAFE Act.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required.
- Minimum of three (3) years of retail banking or branch operations experience required.
- Prior lead, supervisory, or assistant manager experience preferred; candidates being promoted into the role may demonstrate readiness through strong branch operations experience, sound judgment, coaching potential, and the ability to progressively assume responsibilities such as supporting opening and closing procedures, approving transactions, or handling escalations.
- Demonstrated ability to support sales, service, operational, and compliance priorities in a branch or similar client-facing environment.
- Strong knowledge of teller, platform, cash handling, client service, and branch operations procedures preferred.
- Proficiency with banking systems, digital banking tools, and Microsoft Office applications required.

PAY RANGE DISCLOSURE
The pay range for this position is $28.00 to $33.00 per hour and is the lowest to highest pay rate Dedham Savings in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. The Bank may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range, and the range may be modified in the future. An employee’s pay position within the pay range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, experience, sales or revenue-based metrics, and business or organizational needs and affordability.
