THE OPPORTUNITY
As part of the Metrocrest Resale “Million Dollar Team,” the Sales Associate/Cashier is responsible for providing exceptional experiences and services for customers of the Resale store. The Cashier/Sales Associate will perform sales transactions, resolve customer issues, and ensure the store is welcoming by maintaining product placement and keeping a clean environment.
SCHEDULE COMMITTMENT
Metrocrest Resale is open from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM, Monday through Saturday. The Cashier/Sales Associate works onsite during the hours determined by the Resale Assistant Manager and/or General Manager, which may include opening and closing shifts that extend beyond normal operating hours. The Metrocrest Resale Store is closed on Sundays.
Consistent, reliable attendance is vital for ensuring operational efficiency, maintaining a high standard of customer service, supporting teamwork, ensuring financial accuracy, and upholding the reputation of Metrocrest Resale and Metrocrest Services.
Because the store depends on having enough trained staff on the sales floor and at the register during every open hour, the Cashier/Sales Associate must be present, on time, and ready to work for all scheduled shifts, and must be able to reliably and successfully perform each essential function of this role, with or without reasonable accommodation.
REQUIRED KEY TRAITS
Success as a Resale Cashier/Sales Associate depends on consistently demonstrating the following traits on the sales floor and at the register:

- Adaptability: Adjusts quickly and positively to a fast-changing retail floor, including shifting priorities and day-to-day changes in donations, inventory, and customer volume
- Energy/Stamina: Sustains an active pace and stays effective while standing, moving, and lifting throughout a full shift in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
- Initiative: Takes action and pitches in without being asked, staying productive and helpful with minimal supervision
- Stress Tolerance: Stays calm, courteous, and focused when the store is busy, the line is long, or a customer situation becomes difficult
- Teamwork: Pitches in to help teammates, shares helpful information, and stays committed to the store's shared goals
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including Monday - Saturday, between the hours of 9:00 AM - 6:30 PM
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Ability to stand and move for 6.5 hours per shift, with or without reasonable accommodation
- 2 years of customer service experience
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-volume retail environment
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Prior experience in a retail environment
- Cashier experience
- Non-profit thrift store experience
- Bilingual (English/Spanish)

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
- Provide a positive customer experience from start (as soon as a customer enters the store) to finish (at check out)
- Enter data into cash register by itemizing and totaling customers’ purchases (check out)
- Provide pricing information and ensure store products are in the proper place
- Resolve customer issues, answer questions, and explain specific return/guarantee policies to customers
- Contribute to Resale Store and Agency goals by completing assignments and working collaboratively with team members
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Store Manager

COMPENSATION
The starting hourly rate for this FLSA-non-exempt position $17.00

WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- This role works onsite in a climate-controlled facility
- Ability to move, transport, position, and lift up to 15 pounds as needed
- Ability to remain in a stationary position, such as standing or sitting, for up to 8 hours per day
- Ability to walk, move, and/or traverse as needed
