Assistant Coach, Field Hockey

Employment Dates

Runs from 9/1/2026  to 11/2/2026, with the possibility of an extended playoff season through 11/7/2026.

• Preseason: 9/1-9/6
• Regular season: 9/8-11/7
• Postseason: 11/1-11/7

Qualifications/Expectations

Applicants should possess experience playing and coaching on the high school level-junior varsity, varsity, or both, as a minimum. Previous experience in coaching field hockey is required.  

Assistant coaches are responsible for supporting head coaches in the day-to-day operation of the program and other program related duties. These duties can range from drill instruction and execution to video study and analysis. Assistant coaches are expected to demonstrate effective teaching skills relative to sport-specific technique, as well as possess the interpersonal skills necessary to maintain effective working relationships with students, parents, other coaches, and administrators. 

Essential responsibilities also include modeling appropriate behavior and following established protocol for injuries. 

Employees at Mercersburg Academy are required to complete the clearance process mandated by the Pennsylvania Department of Education.
