The Product Manager is responsible for meeting or exceeding annual sales and profit goals for the assigned product group. This role manages key product activities, including strategic growth, product development, training, sales and application support, product and cost documentation, and stocking coordination. The Product Manager also serves as the primary liaison between customers, sales, and manufacturing to ensure the division delivers competitive, timely products that meet customer needs.
Key Responsibilities
Product Knowledge and Technical Support
- Develop a thorough knowledge of the assigned product line.
- Provide technical support to internal teams and customers.
- Support customer and application questions by helping identify appropriate product solutions.
Sales, Customer, and Application Support
- Serve as a liaison between customers, sales support, distributors, and regional sales managers.
- Prepare price quotations and support customer requests in a timely and professional manner.
- Develop and support product and application training for internal and external audiences.
- Update distributors and regional sales managers on product line changes.
Product Management and Operations
- Maintain product information, literature, price lists, and related documentation.
- Use SAP to generate necessary reports and support product line analysis.
- Coordinate with German product teams and global counterparts to support product needs.
- Participate in continual improvement initiatives and support assigned projects and processes.
Marketing and Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Collaborate with sales, engineering, purchasing, production, and other internal teams to support product line objectives.
- Prepare reports, business correspondence, and technical documentation as required.
- Effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
Additional Expectations
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Work onsite in Schaumburg, IL.
To be considered for the Product Support Specialist role, candidates must meet the following minimum qualifications:
- Associate’s degree in mechanical engineering preferred.
- Fluid power industry experience preferred.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret business periodicals, technical procedures, professional journals, and governmental regulations.
- Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to solve practical problems and interpret instructions provided in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
- Knowledge of database, development, internet, project management, spreadsheet, and word processing software.
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
- Strong problem-solving, customer service, oral communication, and written communication skills.
- Self-starter with the ability to build effective relationships with distributors, regional sales managers, and customers.
- Must be able to read, write, speak, and comprehend English.
Salary is commensurate with experience, with a base compensation range of $75,000–$85,000. HYDAC offers a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, and vision coverage; paid holidays; PTO; 401(k) with company match; FSA; short-term disability; life insurance; and pet insurance.
