Description
The Data Center Solutions Engineer/Technician serves as the primary technical resource supporting account managers and strategic sales initiatives focused on data center infrastructure, storage, virtualization, hybrid cloud, cybersecurity, AI infrastructure, and data protection solutions. This position is also responsible for implementing equipment installation plans based on the Network Administrator's specifications, maintaining each component of the network, and troubleshooting issues.
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Providing onsite and/or remote client support, including hardware and networking support for customers’ networks, routers, switches, and servers.
- Conducting customer discovery meetings to understand business requirements, infrastructure challenges, growth plans, and technology objectives.
- Provide strategic guidance for infrastructure modernization, lifecycle planning, and technology roadmaps.
- Designing and implementing solution architectures and recommendations for:
- Virtualization environments
- Backup and disaster recovery solutions
- Hybrid cloud deployments
- Data center consolidation projects
- AI infrastructure
- Cybersecurity
- Business continuity initiatives
- Creating technical designs, diagrams, BOMs (Bills of Materials), scopes of work, and supporting documentation.
- Delivering executive presentations, demonstrations, Proofs of Concept (POCs), and technical briefings.
- Providing strategic guidance on infrastructure modernization, storage optimization, hybrid cloud adoption, and data protection initiatives.
- Building trusted advisor relationships with customer’s IT leadership and executive stakeholders.
- Maintaining current technical certifications.
- Performing other related duties, as assigned.
Requirements
What You’ll Need:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in computer engineering, computer science, or related field is preferred.
- 1 year in field service support role supporting a variety of hardware and networking equipment.
- 3+ years' experience in network architecture and deployment is highly desired.
- Ability to present to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Ability to travel. Position can be up to 50% travel, both in and out of state, including overnight stays.
- Must have an exceptional driving record and have a valid driver’s license.
- Must be able to pass drug screening and background check.
- Must have the ability to move equipment weighing up to 50 lbs.
- Must be able to climb ladders and be comfortable working at heights of 3 to 40 ft.
