Position Summary


Palm House is seeking a Seasonal PM Server to deliver attentive, personalized service throughout the evening dining experience. This role combines strong food and beverage knowledge with thoughtful timing, accurate service, and genuine care for each guest.

The ideal candidate is an engaging hospitality professional who anticipates guest needs, works seamlessly with colleagues, and takes pride in making every evening feel special—from a relaxed dinner to a milestone celebration.


This position is seasonal, with employment anticipated from October through May. Employment is expected to conclude at the end of the seasonal period.


Key Responsibilities

Personalized Dining Service

  • Welcome guests warmly and guide them through the menu with confidence and care.
  • Anticipate guest needs while remaining attentive to their preferred dining pace.
  • Take accurate food and beverage orders and enter them promptly into the point-of-sale system.
  • Follow established service sequences and coordinate courses for a smooth dining experience.
  • Check guest satisfaction and address concerns promptly, involving a manager when appropriate.
  • Recognize special occasions and guest preferences to personalize service.

Food & Beverage Knowledge

  • Maintain detailed knowledge of menus, ingredients, preparation methods, daily specials, and availability.
  • Recommend dishes, wines, cocktails, and other beverages based on guest preferences.
  • Communicate allergies and dietary restrictions clearly to culinary and bar teams, following established procedures.
  • Confirm ingredient and preparation questions with the appropriate team instead of making assumptions.
  • Follow responsible alcohol service procedures and hotel policies.

Service Preparation & Presentation

  • Complete opening duties and ensure tables, service stations, and dining areas are clean, organized, and ready for service.
  • Maintain proper table settings and replenish supplies throughout the shift.
  • Coordinate food delivery, beverage service, clearing, and table maintenance with Server Assistants and other colleagues.
  • Uphold Palm House standards for cleanliness, presentation, and professional appearance.
  • Complete closing duties and prepare service areas for the following shift.

Accuracy & Teamwork

  • Review guest checks for accuracy and process payments securely according to hotel procedures.
  • Follow cash-handling and room-charge verification procedures.
  • Communicate effectively with Culinary, Bar, Hosts, and Food & Beverage leadership.
  • Participate in pre-shift briefings and training to stay informed about menus, reservations, and special requests.
  • Follow food safety, sanitation, and workplace safety procedures.
  • Consistently apply Palm House service standards and Forbes-aligned dining practices.

Experience & Knowledge

  • Previous restaurant serving experience required; luxury hotel, resort, or fine dining experience strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge of dining service etiquette, course pacing, and table maintenance.
  • Familiarity with wine, cocktails, and food and beverage pairings preferred.
  • Experience using point-of-sale systems and processing guest payments.
  • Understanding of food safety, sanitation, allergy communication, and responsible alcohol service.
  • Ability to obtain or maintain any training or certifications required for the role.

Skills & Abilities

  • Excellent communication skills and a warm, professional demeanor.
  • Passion for attentive, personalized guest service.
  • Strong attention to detail when taking orders, coordinating courses, and preparing checks.
  • Ability to manage multiple tables while maintaining composure and service quality.

Availability & Working Conditions

  • Availability for seasonal employment from October through May, with employment expected to conclude at the end of the season.
  • Availability for PM shifts, including evenings, late closing shifts, weekends, and holidays.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a busy dining environment.

Physical Requirements

Ability to perform the essential functions of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation, including:

  • Standing and walking for extended periods throughout a shift.
  • Safely carrying and balancing trays, plates, glassware, and service items.
  • Bending, reaching, and stooping while serving guests and preparing service areas.
  • Moving service supplies and equipment using safe handling practices and assistance when needed.
  • Operating point-of-sale terminals and other service equipment.
