POSITION TITLE: Convention Coordinator CLASSIFICATION: Non-Exempt

POSITION SUMMARY
Under the supervision of the Food and Beverage Service Manager, coordinates events, meetings and weddings with guests. Coordinates staff needed from Food and Beverage, Hotel, Golf, Gaming and Guest Services.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBLITIES

· Sells hotel, catering, golf, gaming, and bills for all services.
· Staffs events with needed employees including bar and security.
· Orders food and beverage needs for events.
· Organizes meetings and plans events.
· Processes paperwork for all events.
· Serves guests.
· Processes phone sales and bookings.
· Attends weekly meetings.
· Arranges meetings with guests to coordinate events.
· Orders linens as needed and pays invoices.
· Enters schedules for staff of Food and Beverage.
· Contributes to a team effort and accomplishes related results as required.
· Performs other duties as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma or GED plus three years events planning experience; or equivalent combination of experience and education. Some college courses in related area preferred. Must be 21 years of age. No felony, theft or stealing convictions. Must be able to successfully pass a pre-employment drug/alcohol screen and background investigation
KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES, SKILLS, AND CERTIFICATIONS
· Knowledge of modern office practices, procedures, and equipment.
· Knowledge of business English, proper spelling, grammar, punctuation, and basic arithmetic.
· Knowledge of principles and practices of public relations, events, and planning in a customer service-oriented environment.
· Knowledge of computer utilization in marketing/business operations.
· Ability to write reports and business correspondence.
· Ability to communicate effectively in the English language, both verbally and in writing with staff and the general public.
· Ability to apply basic mathematical skills.
· Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written and oral form.
· Skill in operating business computers and office machines, including in a Windows environment, specifically Word, Excel, Access, and presentation software (such as PowerPoint).
· Must complete the Food Handler’s Training instruction online and obtain the Food Handler’s Certificate within 30 days of employment. The Certificate must be updated every 2 years.
· Must complete the Arizona Title 4 BASIC Liquor Law Training class and obtain the Certificate of Completion within 90 days of employment. The Certificate must be updated every 3 years.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly is required to sit and stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to walk. The employee occasionally is required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Work is generally performed in an office, Convention Center and Casino setting with exposure to second-hand smoke and a high noise level. Evening and/or weekend work may be required. Extended hours and irregular shifts may be required.
