Summary of Job Description: Commercial Property Tax Consultants provide high level property tax reduction services to commercial property owners by providing representation in administrative tax appeal hearings.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Meet with clients frequently to discuss property assessments and gather relevant documents and information
  • Review and analyze client data, appraisal district evidence, market data and other sources of information and prepare property specific evidence on market value, U & E and income
  • Conduct site visits throughout the state to personally inspect subject properties
  • Prepare tax renditions and reports
  • Use Company’s proprietary systems to generate supporting evidence as necessary
  • Meet with various county appraisal district representatives to negotiate value reductions at informal hearings
  • Attend formal hearings and present complex evidence to the county Appraisal Review Boards
  • Build strong client relationships and maintain a good rapport with appraisal district representatives
  • Participate in business development
  • Other duties as assigned



Requirements
  • Must have active Texas property tax consultant, appraiser, or real estate broker/ sales license
  • 1+ year(s) of experience as a property tax consultant attending informal and formal protest hearings
  • Basic knowledge of commercial real estate valuation and the Texas Property Tax Code
  • Prefer candidates with a background in real estate appraisal, financial services or sales
  • Dynamic and effective negotiation skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to understand and analyze financial reports
  • Ability to work in a vigorous and fast paced environment
  • Detail oriented and ability to multitask
  • Strong work ethic demonstrated through punctual, polite, and courteous job performance
  • Must be available to work extensive hours during the tax protest season (including weekends, evenings and holidays)
  • Ability to travel throughout the state to conduct site visits and attend protest hearings
  • Must have dependable and reliable transportation
  • Strong computer skills (Excel, Word, Internet, various software applications)
  • Must be flexible and willing to change daily assignments on short notice as business dictates
  • Maintain professional appearance, attitude, and manners in dealing with clients and appraisal district personnel.
