About the Role
Koopman Lumber is looking for a skilled, hands-on Power Shop Mechanic to diagnose, repair, and maintain small engines, outdoor power equipment, and larger machinery.
You’ll work on equipment such as lawn mowers, snow blowers, weed whackers, chainsaws, generators, and other power equipment. We’re looking for someone who enjoys troubleshooting problems, making quality repairs, and working independently in a busy shop environment.
What You’ll Do
- Diagnose and repair small engines and outdoor power equipment.
- Perform maintenance and repairs on mowers, snow blowers, chainsaws, weed whackers, generators, and similar equipment.
- Troubleshoot mechanical, fuel, electrical, and starting issues.
- Perform repairs on larger equipment and machinery as needed.
- Complete tune-ups, blade sharpening, belt and part replacement, and routine maintenance.
- Order parts and document completed repairs.
- Test equipment to ensure it is operating safely and correctly.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
- Assist customers with equipment and repair questions as needed.

- Experience with small engines, power equipment, automotive, equipment repair, or a related mechanical field.
- Comfortable using hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment.
- Dependable, organized, and committed to quality workmanship and safety.
- Good communication and customer service skills.
Experience with Stihl, Honda, Toro, Husqvarna, Echo, Briggs & Stratton, Kawasaki, Kohler, or similar equipment is a plus.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Ability to stand for up to 8 hours
- Ability to reach overhead, sit, climb, balance, lift, twist, bend, stoop, and squat
- Regular ability to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 pounds
- Manual dexterity required for equipment handling and repairs
WORKING CONDITIONS
- Work performed both indoors (temperature-controlled) and outdoors in varying weather
- Additional duties may be assigned as needed
