What You'll Do
As a Field Machinist II, you'll bring precision machining directly to customer facilities where critical equipment can't be moved.
Responsibilities include:
- Performing precision field machining on industrial equipment
- Operating and maintaining specialized machining equipment
- Holding tight tolerances in demanding field environments
- Reading and interpreting blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications
- Troubleshooting machining challenges and developing creative solutions
- Collaborating with engineers, project managers, and customers
- Maintaining the highest standards of safety and workmanship
What Makes You Successful
You're the type of machinist who can think on your feet, solve problems, and deliver quality work wherever the job takes you.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of manual machining and/or field machining experience
- Strong experience with Bridgeport mills and manual engine lathes
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and engineering drawings
- Proficient with precision measuring instruments and inspection tools
- Knowledge of cutting tools, materials, feeds, speeds, and machining practices
- Experience using hand tools, power tools, and rigging equipment
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- High School Diploma, GED, or HSED
Preferred Qualifications
- Technical degree or Journeyman certification
- Previous field machining experience
- Industrial maintenance or heavy equipment experience
Certifications & Requirements
- Valid Driver's License
- OSHA 10 Certification (provided by IPM)
- Forklift Certification (provided by IPM)
- IPM Overhead Crane Training Certification
- Ability and willingness to travel extensively, including occasional weekends
- Comfortable using mobile technology for timekeeping, expenses, and project reporting
