TeachKind, PETA’s humane-education division, is looking for a dedicated activist to assist in helping bring our animatronic educators, Carly the Cow and Ellie the Elephant, to elementary schools nationwide! This is a full-time position that includes working with youth educators to schedule presentations, assisting with tour training, occasionally traveling to assist the tour teams and perform presentations, and more!
Primary Responsibilities and Duties:
• Book presentations at elementary schools and other youth programs for our Ellie the Elephant and Carly the Cow tours. This includes researching, reaching out, corresponding with, scheduling, following up, organizing and maintaining contact information for schools and youth program administrators.
• Assist with inventory reports and tracking success of the TeachKind tours
• Assist with creation of print items for the TeachKind tours, including working with the PETA Foundation’s Production Department to get them created
• Assist with logistics to keep the tours well-stocked with supplies, such as working with the PETA Foundation’s Literature Department on inventory and shipping, as well as finding and orchestrating orders for large quantities of vegan products
• Travel as needed to assist with the TeachKind tours
• Help lead tour trainings for new tour staffers
• Conduct research on various subjects and collect information to further the success of the TeachKind tours
• Perform any other tasks assigned by the supervisor
• Well-versed experience advocating for animal rights through outreach and education
• Experience with public speaking
• Exceptional organizational, writing skills and attention to detail will help you keep everything on track, so résumés with grammar or other errors will be rejected. Sorry, but we can't risk it.
• Experience working with kids or educators is a plus
• Familiarity with animal rights issues and PETA campaigns
• Ability to professionally advocate PETA's positions on issues
• Proven proficiency with Microsoft Office or similar software
• Must be at least 21 years of age and have a valid U.S. driver’s license, a minimum of three years of driving experience, and a satisfactory driving record
• Willingness and ability to travel for days at a time
• Proven proficiency conducting Internet research
• Demonstrated ability to maintain strict confidentiality at all times
• Adherence to a healthy vegan lifestyle
• Commitment to the objectives of the organization
The hourly pay range for this position is $16.00 - $21.65. The ultimate hourly pay within this range that will be offered to a qualified candidate will be determined based on the candidate’s experience and the cost of living in the area in which the candidate will live and work.
