Job Description
The technical writer will support government agencies, public-sector programs, or regulated environments. The technical writer will create, edit, and maintain clear, accurate, and compliant documentation for technical systems, policies, processes, and end users. The technical writer will work closely with engineers and stakeholders to translate complex technical information into accessible documentation that meets government standards and contractual requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop, edit, and maintain technical documentation including:
- Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
- System documentation
- User manuals and training materials
- Policies and procedures
- Requirements documents
- Reports and compliance documentation
- Collaborate with technical teams, subject matter experts, and program managers to gather information and document workflows.
- Ensure documentation complies with government regulations, agency standards, and contract requirements.
- Review and revise documents for clarity, consistency, grammar, formatting, and accuracy.
- Manage document version control and maintain organized documentation repositories.
- Support proposal writing, contract deliverables, and audit preparation as needed.
- Translate complex technical concepts into clear language for technical and non-technical audiences.
- Participate in meetings, interviews, and process reviews to capture business and technical requirements.
- Maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive or controlled information appropriately.
Other Duties
- Hybrid or remote work may be available depending on contract requirements.
- May require occasional travel to government or client sites.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Technical Writing, Communication, Information Technology, Business, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 4+ years of technical writing experience.
- Familiarity with Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR) and Defense Acquisition Regulations System (DFARS)
- Experience supporting government agencies, contractors, or public sector organizations.
- Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills.
- Familiarity with government documentation standards and compliance requirements.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and collaboration/document management tools.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
- Management of sub-contractors producing manauls
- Spare parts provisioning standards and assignment of NSN’s from EDFP documents
- DoD documentation standards.
- Section 508 accessibility requirements.
- Familiar with TM requirements of: The US Army, USAF and USMC.

Salary Description
$90,000 - $115,000
