Position Details:
Transcard offers an internship program in the FinTech industry. Our program is designed to provide you with meaningful projects utilized by the business. You’ll see the direct impact of your contribution and get an inside perspective of your desired field while working alongside some of the best in our industry.
We continually strive to identify qualified individuals for post-graduate opportunities beyond the internship program.
This intern position will operate Monday-Friday during standard business hours. This position is a paid internship, compensation will be based on the qualifications of the applicant.
Our goal is to allow you to gain a better understanding of the day-to-day responsibilities within the Information Technology department while working toward your professional goals as related to your academic coursework.

We prefer our interns to be onsite in Chattanooga, TN. We do offer remote capabilities for qualified individuals. Candidate must reside in the US. We are unable to offer visa sponsorship.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The Artificial Intelligence internship will start with a one-on-one meeting with the Chief Technology Officer or your designated personnel to discuss the professional goal of your academic coursework to ensure you meet all academic requirements during the internship. Additionally, the internship will be supervised by the Senior Vice President of Technology to provide routine feedback and status updates. There will be an exit interview with the Chief Technology Officer and the Director of Human Resources for continual improvement of the program. The Artificial Intelligence internship will provide exposure to a variety of opportunities, such as: building and testing features for AI-powered applications, participation in sprint/scrum and design reviews for AI projects, and collaboration with engineering, sales, and marketing teams to translate business needs into AI-driven solutions.
· Learn and apply foundational concepts in artificial intelligence and machine learning through hands-on project work.
· Assist in developing and improving features for the company's AI-powered applications and tools.
· Help troubleshoot and resolve issues within AI-powered applications under the guidance of senior engineers.
· Support testing and quality checks on AI systems and related components to help ensure reliability and safety.
· Assist with reviewing and supporting security and access-related configurations for AI systems.
· Participate in code reviews, sprint planning, and design discussions to gain exposure to the AI development lifecycle.
· Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand how AI features support broader business and customer needs.
· Familiarity with Python or another programming language commonly used in AI/ML development.
· Exposure to machine learning, natural language processing (NLP), or large language model (LLM) concepts through coursework or personal projects.
· Basic understanding of version control systems (e.g., Git) and collaborative development workflows.
· Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot and debug technical issues.
· Interest in responsible AI practices, including data privacy, security, and AI safety considerations.
· Ability to learn new tools, frameworks, and systems quickly in a fast-paced environment.
· Preferred: Coursework or project experience involving APIs, cloud platforms, or chatbot/conversational AI development.
· Ability to work remotely and independently from direct supervisor as needed.
· Must have great time management, communication, and organizational skills.
· Proficient in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
Education and/or Certifications
· Completed or currently working towards a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
· Preferred coursework: Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence, Natural Language Processing, Data Structures & Algorithms, Statistics/Probability, Software Engineering, or Cybersecurity/Information Security.
· Preferred: Computer Engineering Technologies & Technicians.
