Description

The Dental Training Manager is responsible for leading the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of training and knowledge management programs across the Dental Operations department. This role oversees the Dental Systems Trainer, includes ownership of departmental training content, training manuals, video-based learning resources, and SharePoint knowledge repositories to ensure employees have consistent access to accurate and up-to-date operational information.


The Dental Training Manager collaborates closely with Dental Operations leadership to identify training needs, develop educational strategies, drive process standardization, and promote operational excellence across all markets. This position serves as a key partner in onboarding, ongoing development, change management, and implementation of operational initiatives.


Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  

Training Leadership

  • Provide direct leadership and oversight of the Dental Systems Trainer role and related training functions.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive training programs for Dental Operations team members.
  • Establish onboarding curricula for new hires and role-specific development plans.
  • Coordinate and facilitate instructor-led, virtual, and self-guided training programs.
  • Evaluate training effectiveness through assessments, feedback, and operational performance metrics.
  • Identify training gaps and develop solutions to improve employee competence and confidence

Knowledge Management

  • Oversee Dental Operations Knowledge Management systems, ensuring accuracy, accessibility, and consistency of information.
  • Develop and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs), policies, workflows, job aids, and training materials.
  • Partner with subject matter experts to capture and document operational best practices.
  • Ensure training materials and knowledge resources remain current with organizational changes.

Operational Support & Collaboration

  • Partner with Dental Operations leadership to support strategic initiatives, operational changes, and system implementations.
  • Support change management efforts by developing communication and training plans for new processes and technologies.
  • Serve as a resource for operational questions, process clarification, and employee development.

Program Management

  • Develop annual training plans and departmental development strategies.
  • Monitor training completion, compliance, and effectiveness metrics.
  • Manage training schedules, resources, and priorities to meet organizational needs.
  • Prepare reports and recommendations for leadership regarding training outcomes and development opportunities.

Leadership Responsibilities

  • Provide coaching, mentorship, and performance management for direct reports.
  • Conduct regular one-on-one meetings and performance evaluations.
  • Participate in recruiting, interviewing, hiring, and onboarding training team members as needed.
  • Foster a culture of continuous learning, accountability, and operational excellence.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Stay informed of industry best practices, training methodologies, and operational trends.
  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.
Requirements

Education & Training Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Healthcare Administration, Education, or related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in training, or related leadership roles.
  • Previous experience developing and delivering training programs required.
  • Leadership or management experience preferred.

Physical Effort & Working Conditions

Work is performed in a normal office setting with minimal exposure to health or safety hazards. Substantial time is spent working on a computer.
