Description

We are seeking an experienced Substation Wiring Electrical Foreman to lead crews performing substation construction, maintenance, upgrades, and commissioning activities throughout Virginia and surrounding service areas. This role requires extensive experience in substation electrical systems, leadership capabilities, and the ability to maintain safe, productive operations while coordinating personnel, equipment, and project schedules. 


Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead, supervise, and coordinate substation electrical crews. 
  • Plan and oversee installation of conduit, cable tray, control wiring, bus systems, breakers, transformers, PTs, CTs, regulators, batteries, relay panels, and associated equipment. 
  • Interpret blueprints, schematics, wiring diagrams, and construction drawings. 
  • Ensure all work is performed in accordance with company safety policies, customer specifications, and industry standards. 
  • Coordinate manpower, materials, and equipment to maintain project schedules. 
  • Conduct job briefings and mentor apprentices and junior electricians. 
  • Perform hands-on electrical work as needed alongside crew members. 
  • Travel as required to project locations.
Requirements

Physical Standards:

Required physical abilities to climb, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, stand, walk, push, pull, lift, finger dexterity, grasp, and repetitive motions. Must be able to routinely lift objects under 10 pounds; occasionally lift objects from 10-25 pounds, infrequently lift objects from 25 – 30 pounds and infrequently lift object over 50 pounds.


Environmental Conditions:

Work is performed outside and includes being exposed to extreme cold, extreme heat, inclement weather, noise, mechanical hazards, electrical hazards, darkness and occasional poor lighting conditions.


QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or recognized equivalent. Formal education and/or training in electrical theory or electronics
  • Minimum 10 years of electrical construction experience with significant substation experience preferred. 
  • Previous foreman or crew leadership experience required. 
  • Strong understanding of substation construction methods, controls, relay wiring, and electrical equipment installation. 
  • English language proficiency required. 
  • Bilingual English/Spanish candidates are a plus. 
  • Clean or driving record required. 
  • Class A CDL preferred but not required. 
  • OSHA, CPR, and First Aid certifications are a plus.
