The Estimating Manager will lead a team of estimators in developing cost proposals for new business opportunities in collaboration with Business Development and Operations counterparts. This position will be accountable for the development of complete cost proposals for small and large projects and will provide leadership in advanced estimating services for projects.
Duties and responsibilities:
- Manage a team of Estimators to ensure timely and accurate submission of all client deliverables.
- Prioritize tasks and provide guidance to team members, including annual performance assessments, coaching, and counseling.
- Support the development of automated systems to enhance estimating tools.
- Prepare and review final pursuit proposals and brief Senior Leadership Operations reviews for approvals as required.
- Develop hard bid estimates start-to-finish for Industrials contracts and initiate and lead meetings as needed to achieve goals and dates.
- Coordinate with Procurement & Supply Management to obtain vendor quotes in support of detailed cost proposals development.
- Prepare detailed breakdowns of cost elements of the respective RFP requirements and concept of operations.
- Accumulate, evaluate, and document historical cost data for the development of pricing factors for future estimates.
- Review contract documents/modifications/parameters to determine scope of work and equitable cost allowance for scope changes.
Requirements
Essential qualifications:
- 5-14 years of experience in a leadership capacity within the Project Controls (Cost/Estimating) environment.
- Strong leadership and communication skills, with a clear working knowledge of field operations and project management.
- Ability to analyze incurred cost and develop competitive bids.
- Highly skilled in Excel and similar estimating tools typical to the industry, with experience in risk assessment utilizing Crystal Ball simulation.
- Preferred minimum of four years university-level education in a technical/engineering field with relevant field experience.
- Ability to work independently under pressure with minimal supervision.
- Possess excellent analytical and technical capabilities.
- Skillful in problem recognition and solution selection/recommendation.
- Working knowledge of construction estimating software.
- Interact well with any level of Project Management and can interface with other employees/departments.
- High level of professionalism.
Working conditions:
- This position will be based in an office environment and may require occasional travel.
- Physical requirements: This position does not require any specific physical demands beyond those typically associated with an office environment.
