Continuous Improvement Manager

The Continuous Improvement manager will significantly contribute to year over year profitability and operational improvement through the support of Lean initiatives. This role is responsible for delivering results through the development, improvement, and implementation of the Lean process which includes proper measurement systems and instilling a continuous improvement culture. The CI Manager will facilitate and train individuals in the use of the Lean improvement techniques (i.e., Six Sigma, MBF, TPM, Kanban, Cellular Mfg., VSM, 5S, Pareto, SMED, etc.), develop simulations and activities to reinforce concepts, and create supporting documentation such as Facilitator’s Guides. This position will be located in West Bend, WI and report to the plant manager.


Responsibilities:

  • Coordination of all activities related to productive cost improvements.
  • Lead the integration of the CentroMotion Operating System (as implemented) and support its ongoing sustainment.
  • Drive business-critical lean projects for the business by using sound project management principles. Own the results and share best practices as applicable across the site.
  • Assist with the development of lean training materials. Facilitate and/or coordinate training activities for lean improvement techniques.
  • Drive the use of these tools at the location, through the facilitation of events, simulations, activities, and projects.
  • Facilitate business process improvements as identified by the plant manager and operations leadership team.
  • Establish and coordinate world class measurements as necessary to determine manufacturing and supply chain performance and capability.
  • Work with business leaders to identify the needs of the businesses regarding continuous improvement process support.
  • Evaluate and measure the impact continuous improvement is making on the business results, adjusting the support as needed to insure business result improvements.
  • Ensure best practice sharing and continuous improvement participation collaboration across Centro Motion.


Requirements

Education:

  • BS in Business Management, Industrial Engineering, or other engineering disciplines, with experience in manufacturing operations and quality systems (preferred).

Experience/Competencies:

  • Lean Manufacturing experience
  • Six Sigma experience
  • 3-5 years prior experience in a manufacturing leadership role with a proven track record.
  • Strong collaboration skills are a must for this role.
  • Project management skills.
  • Organizational, Analytical and Technical skills
  • Understanding of manufacturing processes.
  • Problem solving skills.
  • Must be resilient and capable of dealing with ambiguity.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Teams formats.
  • Demonstrated strong leadership skills, with the ability to effectively function in a supportive/consultative role. Must be able to show success by influencing others, not necessarily directing as this is a consultative role.
  • Experience with the lean tools, (5S, Value Stream Mapping, Process Mapping, Policy Deployment, Kanban, TPM, JIT, Cellular Mfg., SMED, 3P, Flow concepts, etc.)
  • Must believe in metrics that measure operational excellence.
  • Excellent communication and facilitation skills, both oral and written demonstrated by the ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers.
  • Ability to effectively work cross-functionally.
  • Capacity to understand the corporate vision, and the ability to share this vision with the business unit.
  • Computer literacy and analytical skills must be above average, including experience with Microsoft suite of products.
