About the Department:
The Development & Marketing Department is responsible for fundraising, promoting JFCS and engaging with our community. Key functions include:
- Fundraising – securing funding from individual donors, businesses, public and private foundations, community organizations and others
- Public Relations – managing our public image and communicating our successes
- Digital Marketing – utilizing social media, email campaigns and our website to reach a wider audience
- Content Creation – developing engaging content that highlights our impact and the issues we address
- Community Outreach – connecting with others to foster partnership and support
- Volunteerism – recruiting and managing volunteers to support JFCS clients and programs
Job Summary/Function:
The Development Associate is a key member of the Development and Marketing Department. They play a crucial role in the growth and sustainability of the organization by supporting the development and implementation of fundraising strategies. Under the leadership of the Head of Philanthropy, this position works closely with leadership teams, donors, and other stakeholders to build and maintain relationships that lead to financial support for the organization's mission and programs.
Responsibilities include:
- Support in identification, cultivation, and stewardship of donors and prospects
- Manage donor portfolios through Donor Perfect and other platforms
- Manage the donation process from receipt to acknowledgement/Thank you
- Provide support to the department in event planning
- Support Director of Development & Marketing in the JFCS mission of supporting our programs by raising funds.
- Prepare various reports including impact reports, in collaboration with the marketing staff.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in non-profit management, communications or related field.
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience working in a fundraising function with responsibility for both idea creation/planning and implementation within a community-based organization.
- Experience in planning and implementing fundraising and other special events.
- Non-Profit experience preferred.
- Proficiency in donor management software
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to multi-task and to work independently
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office
Training Requirements:
- Completion of all required agency-wide and program-specific trainings.
Physical Requirements:
- Desk work with computer usage for extended periods
- Occasional irregular hours and capacity to work under pressure
- Full range of motion and corrected vision, hearing, and speech (or reasonable accommodations)
- Ability to lift and carry up to 30 pounds
