As the Director of Sales, you will report directly to the VP of Event Sales & Business Development. You will lead and develop a team of Senior Event Sales Managers and Event Sales Managers within your venue, owning the sales strategy and driving team performance. Your primary focus is building and coaching a high-performing sales team — setting the strategic direction, developing your team members, and holding the team accountable to sales goals — while ensuring consistent execution within your venue.
Roles and Responsibilities:
The duties include, but are not limited to, the following
Sales Strategy & Performance
- Own and communicate the sales strategy, ensuring it is understood and executed
- Track and report on strategic plan results, identifying opportunities for course correction
- Develop a strategic plan to engage new and existing clients and grow overall sales
- Ensure accurate and timely weekly and monthly financial reporting; analyze financial variances and initiate corrective actions as needed
- Stay in tune with sales budgets for the fiscal year and understand key KPI reports for your venue
Team Leadership & Development
- Manage, support, and develop sales team
- Lead and motivate a high-performance sales team while creating a “fun” and engaging environment
- Effectively lead daily huddles and strategic team meetings
- Communicate expectations clearly and follow up to ensure team members are meeting them in a timely manner
- Own individual sales growth planning for each team member, aligning development with their career path and goals
- Understand each team member’s strengths and areas of opportunity; conduct effective performance evaluations
- Own the continued education and sales training program, increasing team efficiency and conversion rates
- Collaborate on the Sales Manager training program, including onboarding new hires and supporting the recruiting process as needed
Market & Business Development
- Perform market research and stay on top of industry trends
- Understand competitors and develop strategies to win against them
- Actively connect with potential clients, community members, and top decision-makers in each market
- Create new routes to increase venue sales and ensure sales and marketing plans are cohesive and fully executed
Cross-Functional Relationships
- Build strong working relationships with venue leadership, including General Manager and Executive Chef
- Serve as liaison between the sales team and other departments to ensure smooth communication
- Ensure the team is effectively and consistently using sales tools and systems to perform their responsibilities
Brand & Guest Standards
- Ensure venue adheres to brand standards and operational excellence
- Coach the team on guest engagement best practices, including handling VIP clients and resolving guest concerns
- Maintain a guest-centered focus across the sales organization to drive retention and repeat business

Salary Range: $120,000 - $130,000 annually
Qualifications and Education Requirements
- Minimum of 8 years in restaurant, hotel, or hospitality event sales, with a proven track record of success
- Minimum of 3 years directly managing and developing a sales team, ideally including experience managing managers
- Extensive understanding of the local market and industry trends
- Proven experience working in high-volume, fast-paced environments
- Strong financial and analytical aptitude, with experience owning sales budgets and reporting
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Experience recruiting, onboarding, and training sales talent
- Ability to travel occasionally for networking, training, or company events as needed
Preferred Skills
- Demonstrates strong leadership presence with a genuine passion for developing others
- Works effectively across teams and departments, contributing to a collaborative culture
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple priorities
- Proficient in CRM and catering software systems; experience with Tripleseat is a bonus
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and Excel for reporting and budget management
Work Environment / Physical Requirements
- Ability to work on-site at the venue during weekdays, with occasional travel for networking, training, or company events as needed
- Flexible hours with availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed
