SendCutSend is the fastest-growing custom manufacturing company in America. We're looking for a hands-on technical leader who's seen what excellence looks like at scale and wants to direct a critical part of the business as we continue to grow.
This leader should be as comfortable on the shop floor as they are writing quality production code. They will report directly to the VP of Product, Growth and Engineering and work closely with teams across the business to make sure we’re building great software that supports our customers, our team and our growth.
Why SendCutSend
SendCutSend is an on-demand manufacturing company specializing in custom sheet metal and CNC machining. We serve more than 150,000 engineers, fabricators, and businesses across the U.S. and Canada. We operate out of six facilities located in NV, KY, and TX.
Our business is built on reliability, accountability, quality, and constant improvement. Everyone here plays a real role in our success. We value people who are collaborative, innovative, and committed to detailed high-quality work. We're scaling fast and building the future of manufacturing. If you're excited to join the team and grow with us, we want to hear from you!
What you'll do
- Scale the engineering organization from ~16 engineers to many times that. Recruit and retain top tier engineers in both Reno (HQ) and remote locations.
- Develop the leadership + operating layer that makes larger scale possible: streamline code reviews, planning cadence, on-call process, performance reviews, leveling etc.
- Work closely with the CEO and other leadership teams (product, operations and manufacturing) to deliver the most important business needs via high quality software.
- Own feature delivery predictability. Establish clear commitments, visible progress, and proactive escalation when a date is at risk.
- Partner with senior engineers on architecture and technical direction, ensuring the system can support many teams working in parallel.
- Make frequent trips to Reno NV HQ to work on the floor and ship parts in production.
Minimum Qualifications
- 15+ years in software engineering, with 10+ years in engineering leadership
- Direct experience running an engineering organization through significant growth periods. You have been accountable for the outcome, not adjacent to it.
- Proven track record of hiring, developing and mentoring engineering managers.
- Domain expertise in manufacturing, logistics, e-commerce or other “physical world” businesses.
- Strong technical foundation with the ability to make correct decisions quickly with incomplete information.
- Demonstrated ability to establish process and structure without smothering execution speed. You can balance scrappy and scalable solutions simultaneously
- Excellent communication across technical and non-technical audiences, from the shop floor to the executive team. Experience scaling culture across in-person + remote teams.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent experience.
