As a Prep Cook, you will support the kitchen team by preparing ingredients, stocking workstations, following recipes and prep lists, and helping ensure our food is fresh, consistent, and ready for service. This role is a key part of keeping the kitchen organized, efficient, and set up for success each day. Essential Minimum Duties and Responsibilities:
· Prepare ingredients by washing, peeling, cutting, chopping, slicing, measuring, and portioning items according to recipes and prep lists
· Assist with preparing sauces, dressings, marinades, toppings, and other menu components as directed
· Set up, stock, and organize workstations with necessary food items, supplies, and equipment before and during service
· Label, date, rotate, and properly store food items following food safety and sanitation standards
· Maintain cleanliness and organization of prep areas, coolers, dry storage, equipment, and utensils
· Follow recipes, portion standards, and prep procedures to support consistent food quality and presentation
· Communicate low inventory levels, product quality concerns, or prep needs to the Sous Chef or Executive Chef
· Assist line cooks and kitchen team members during service as needed
· Complete prep tasks efficiently, accurately, and within established timelines
· Clean and sanitize work surfaces, tools, equipment, and storage areas throughout and at the end of each shift
· Adhere to sanitary, health, safety, and personal hygiene standards
· Comply with all rules and policies outlined in the MCBC employee handbook
· Perform other duties as directed by management
Qualifications
· Previous experience in a professional kitchen, food service, or prep cook role is helpful but not required
· Basic knife skills and comfort working with common kitchen tools and equipment preferred
· Ability to follow recipes, prep lists, directions, and food safety procedures
· Ability to work efficiently and accurately in a fast-paced kitchen environment
· Strong attention to detail, organization, and cleanliness
· Basic written and verbal communication skills
· Ability to work as a team member and support others during busy service periods
· Maintains a positive attitude and works collaboratively with all team members
· High school diploma or GED preferred; culinary training is a plus
· Understanding of food safety, sanitation, proper food storage, and safe handling practices
· Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
