Description

 

The ETL/Database Developer will play a crucial role in the continued effort of designing, implementing, and optimizing our company infrastructure while collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver meaningful data solutions. They will have strong experience with SQL and Python, and a deep understanding of data warehousing concepts, ETL frameworks, data modeling, and API-based data integration. This role will report to the Information Systems Manager.


Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable data pipelines and ETL processes using SQL and Python.
  • Integrate data from external systems using RESTful APIs.
  • Design and implement database structures for new applications and enhancements.
  • Extract, transform, and load (ETL) data from various sources into data warehouses or data marts, ensuring data accuracy and consistency.
  • Optimize and fine-tune SQL queries and data models for optimal performance & responsiveness.
  • Monitor database performance and apply necessary changes, patches, and updates.
  • Create complex functions, stored procedures, and triggers to support application development.
  • Develop and maintain data pipelines, data integration processes, and data cleansing procedures.
  • Implement data governance practices, ensuring data quality, security, and compliance with relevant regulations.
  • Perform regular maintenance tasks such as backups, restores, and data purging.
  • Implement and manage data security measures including access controls and firewalls.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve database functionality issues and user-reported problems.
  • Participate in data architecture and modeling discussions to ensure the scalability and flexibility of BI solutions.
  • Document ETL workflows, data mappings, and system architecture.
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into effective BI solutions that address data analysis and reporting needs.
  • Implement automation of various functions in Acumatica and various other supporting 3rd party systems related to departmental needs.
  • Stay current with industry trends and best practices in BI and data analytics, bringing innovative ideas to enhance the organization's data capabilities.
  • Collaborate with third-party IT support vendors as needed and ensure they are informed when projects affect them or the services they provide or manage.
  • Assist with data capture, planning, and implementation of new software releases and cross-functional assignments. 


Requirements
  • Strong understanding of software systems including cloud-hosted (Azure), web-based, and software-as-a-service (SaaS).
  • Strong proficiency in Python and other scripting languages for automation.
  • Experience in data warehouse design, data-modeling, indexing strategy, and schema structuring.
  • In-depth knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server and Transact-SQL; Proven work experience designing and optimizing SQL queries, stored procedures, functions, and jobs.
  • Strong understanding of database design principles and data modeling processes.
  • Experience developing and maintaining scripts for data migration and ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes.
  • Knowledge of software development and user interface web applications.
  • Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git).
  • Familiarity working with .Net Framework, JavaScript, and HTML.
  • Hands-on experience with RESTful and/or SOAP APIs for data integration.
  • Proficiency in data formats such as JSON and XML.
  • Familiarity with authentication mechanisms such as OAuth and API keys.
  • Critical-thinking using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, and approaches to problems.

Experience & Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Science, or a related field.
  • 2+ years of Backend SQL Development experience required.

  • Prior experience with Microsoft GP, Acumatica, SalesPad, ZenDesk, and StockIQ would set a candidate apart, but is not required for this role.
