The Content Marketing Senior Manager leads the development of audience-centered and search-informed content that helps clients build visibility, credibility and business results across evolving owned and earned channels. Working closely with the PR/Content Strategy Director, Group Director and Executive Director, this role develops integrated content programs that translate business objectives into measurable results.


The role combines strategic thinking with exceptional writing, research abilities and visual judgment to create dynamic content across multiple formats, including websites, emails, executive communications (thought leadership), testimonials and case studies, sales enablement materials, videos, social media and podcasts. Rather than producing content as individual deliverables, this role develops content ecosystems that support customer journeys, strengthen discoverability and maximize content performance over time.


Essential Duties & Responsibilities as Content Marketing Senior Manager

  • Work with client teams (leads, client engagement directors, project managers) to develop written content materials in all forms for assigned client initiatives
  • Establish a strategic plan for programs, including content approach, editorial topic identification, calendars, cadence and proposed measurement metrics
  • Work with search managers to ensure content is aligned with search strategies and written to garner SEO benefits
  • Work with marketing automation managers to ensure accurate and effective deployment of content in alignment with the content strategy
  • Deliver content on time and on budget to team leads and/or clients
  • Write content, which may include blog posts, white papers, emails/newsletters, advertorials, case studies, website copy, magazines and other types of editorial-based content
  • Write content in a variety of voices, tones and complexities based on target audience expectations and preferences, from technical-heavy white papers to design-inspired blog posts
  • Work to become a subject matter expert on client challenges, products and trends
  • Ensure the highest quality of work is being delivered to the client
  • Work closely with the Client Engagement, PR/Content, Integrated Media, Project Management and Resourcing and Creative teams to ensure a seamless project workflow

Additional Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate strong writing, editing and communication skills with specific emphasis on the ability to quickly understand and write about technical topics
  • Have a firm grasp of the communication potential of the content being created
  • Demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of how technology enhances the ways we create and deliver content, staying up to date on technology changes and evolutions
  • Organize, manage and prioritize projects
  • Work closely with the Content Marketing Director to ensure strategic goals are set for all content marketing projects
  • Work closely with the PR/Content and Integrated Media team (Media and SEO) to ensure consistent branding and messaging across channels

  • Communicate in a clear, coherent and professional manner in written and verbal communications

  • Be a champion for agency process and best practices, specifically for the delivery of written content

  • Develop and pitch content roadmaps, editorial frameworks, messaging themes, publishing calendars and measurement plans.
  • Create compelling content across multiple formats, including websites, emails, executive communications (thought leadership), testimonials and case studies, sales enablement materials, videos, social media and podcasts.
  • Repurpose and optimize content across channels to extend reach, improve efficiency and create cohesive customer experiences.’
  • Incorporate AI tools into workflows to ensure consistency in deliverables, expedite drafting processes and refine tactical approaches. Collaborate with PR, Social, Creative, Integrated Media and Account teams to ensure content works as part of broader integrated communications programs and share sources and resources where applicable.
  • Partner with internal and external specialists to ensure content is optimized for SEO and AI search experiences.
  • Apply audience insights, search intent and performance data to continually improve content quality and effectiveness.
  • Develop a deep understanding of client industries, customers, products and competitive landscapes to create content that demonstrates expertise and builds trust.
  • Ensure all content meets Wray Ward's standards for strategic thinking, editorial excellence, brand voice and business impact.
  • Deliver high-quality work on time and within budget while managing multiple priorities and stakeholders.
  • Leverage analytics to measure performance, identify optimization opportunities and inform future content strategies
  • Participate in ongoing training to maintain expertise in evolving search and discoverability practices.

  • Apply editorial judgment to identify opportunities to repurpose, extend and optimize content across owned, earned and shared channels.
  • Stay current on emerging content trends, AI-enabled workflows, search behavior, content technologies and digital publishing best practices to continuously improve how content is developed and delivered.
  • Organize, prioritize and manage multiple projects while maintaining high standards for quality, accuracy and strategic alignment.
  • Partner with the PR/Content Strategy Director to establish strategic objectives, content priorities and success metrics for client programs.
  • Collaborate closely with PR, Social, Creative, Integrated Media and Account teams to ensure integrated messaging, consistent brand voice and coordinated campaign execution.
  • Work alongside SEO and media specialists to ensure content supports discoverability through SEO and AI search experiences.
  • Manage freelance writers and content partners, including identifying resource needs, assigning work, providing editorial direction, reviewing deliverables and maintaining quality standards.

Requirements

 

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of professional content strategy, content creation, and/or content marketing
  • Exceptional writing and editing skills, including experience translating complex or technical subject matter into clear, engaging content.
  • Demonstrated experience developing strategic content programs across digital channels, including websites, emails, executive communications (thought leadership), testimonials and case studies, sales enablement materials, videos, social media and podcasts.
  • Strong understanding of content strategy, editorial planning and audience-centered and search-informed storytelling.
  • Working knowledge of SEO and AI search principles, or a demonstrated ability to quickly develop expertise in these areas.
  • Experience interpreting content performance metrics and using data to inform content recommendations.
  • Proven ability to research and write effectively across multiple audiences, industries, channels and brand voices.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams, including strategy, PR, social, media, creative and account management.
  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism, Marketing, English or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
