EMS Supervisor

Position Summary:
The EMS Supervisor is responsible for overseeing daily field operations, ensuring high standards of patient care, maintaining operational readiness, and supporting staff through leadership, training, and quality assurance. This role combines field supervision with administrative duties, focusing on logistics coordination, discipline, QA review, and management of medical supplies and equipment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Operational Oversight & Logistics:
- Supervise daily shift operations to ensure adequate staffing, vehicle readiness, and timely response to calls.
- Coordinate logistics including ambulance deployment, equipment allocation, and unit coverage.
- Ensure all ambulances and facilities maintain operational readiness, cleanliness, and compliance with company and regulatory standards.
- Monitor and report any vehicle or equipment issues and coordinate repairs or replacements as needed.
Quality Assurance (QA) & Documentation:
- Review Patient Care Reports (PCRs) for completeness, accuracy, and compliance with medical and company standards.
- Provide feedback to EMTs and Paramedics to improve documentation, patient care, and protocol adherence.
- Track and report QA trends to management and assist in developing corrective action or training plans.
- Assist in the development and implementation of continuous quality improvement (CQI) initiatives.
Discipline & Staff Development:
- Enforce company policies, procedures, and protocols consistently and professionally.
- Conduct coaching, counseling, and disciplinary actions in coordination with management and HR.
- Serve as a mentor and resource to field staff, promoting professional growth and positive team culture.
- Participate in performance evaluations and provide feedback on employee performance.
- Reports to Operations Manager / Director of EMS
Supplies & Inventory Management:
- Oversee ordering, stocking, and distribution of medical and operational supplies.
- Maintain accurate inventory records and ensure cost-effective use of resources.
- Conduct regular audits of supply rooms, ambulances, and equipment for expiration dates, proper storage, and accountability.
- Coordinate with vendors and the logistics department to ensure timely delivery and replenishment.
Additional Duties:
- Assist with new hire orientation and training as needed.
- Respond to major incidents or calls as a field supervisor when required.
- Prepare and submit reports to upper management regarding operations, QA, and inventory control.
- Perform other duties as assigned by leadership.
Work Environment:
This position involves both field and office duties. The EMS Supervisor will be required to respond to calls, attend meetings, and perform inspections across multiple stations or locations as we grow in our division. Position reports to the Operations Manager/Director of EMS.
Requirements:
Current certification as EMT or Paramedic
Minimum of 3 years field EMS experience; supervisory experience preferred.
Strong knowledge of EMS protocols, QA/QI processes, and regulatory compliance.
Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
Ability to handle disciplinary matters with professionalism and fairness.
Proficiency in EMS reporting software, Microsoft Office, and inventory systems.
Must possess a valid driver’s license and meet driving record standards.
