Description
Position Purpose
The Manufacturing Engineer interprets the Engineering design and determines the best methodology to produce parts and optimizes the sequencing of assemblies and installations to meet the design requirements. These processes are documented by written work instructions and proven by first usage. The Manufacturing Engineer may be asked to lead the team or be an integral part of a team that leads company initiatives to introduce new technologies and/or processes into Erickson’s manufacturing department.
Job Leveling
These positions require different levels of experience, job knowledge and skills. The characteristics for each level are listed under the Minimum Qualifications section.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Develops manufacturing processes by studying engineering supplied part and assembly drawing requirements.
- Works to improve the manufacturing process to improve efficiency by studying existing work plans and revising as needed.
- Communicates with internal and external suppliers to ensure parts and assemblies are being processed to drawing requirements.
- Evaluates manufacturing process by designing and conducting research programs.
- Participates in the planning phase of company projects. i.e. Concerto.
- Maintains product and company reputation by complying with company and customer regulations and specifications.
- Participates and provides guidance to the Manufacturing Engineer Technician.
- Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational classes and workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing professional relationships with outside suppliers.
- Communicates with the Tooling Department concerning tool requirements for specific jobs.
Minimum Qualifications
Level I:
- Four-year Manufacturing Engineering Degree or equivalent OJT in the Aero-Space Industry required.
- Microsoft Office products required.
- Computer aided drafting experience (Solid Works/Catia) preferred.
- Must have reading, speaking, writing, and understanding skills in the English language.
Level II:
- Four-year Manufacturing Engineering Degree, Mechanical Engineering, or relevant vocational training program preferred.
- Two years aviation experience in either Engineering or Manufacturing Engineering required.
- Five years aviation experience in either Engineering or Manufacturing Engineering preferred.
- Microsoft Office products required.
- Computer aided drafting experience (Solid Works/Catia) preferred.
- Must have reading, speaking, writing, and understanding skills in the English language.
