The Business Development Sales Manager is responsible for proactively developing and growing key transient business segments for Embassy Suites O’Hare – Rosemont and DoubleTree O’Hare – Rosemont.
Primary market responsibilities include Airline Sales & Management, Business Travel/Corporate Negotiated Accounts, and Tour & Travel group opportunities The position is designed to be externally focused, with an emphasis on new account development, client relationships, outside sales activity, RFP and contract negotiations, and increasing profitable room-night production across both hotels.
Airline Sales
• Serve as the primary commercial sales contact for assigned airline accounts. • Solicit new airline crew opportunities and maintain relationships with existing airline clients.
• Manage airline RFPs, renewals and contract negotiations.
• Prepare airline bid recommendations for required leadership approval.
• Partner with Revenue Management on displacement analysis, rate floors, inventory strategy and profitability before bids are finalized.
• Monitor account production, room-night volume, ADR and contract performance.
• Conduct regular business reviews with key airline accounts.
• Coordinate with hotel Operations regarding service expectations and recurring client concerns while maintaining ownership of the commercial relationship. Business Travel / Corporate Negotiated
• Manage existing local preferred and corporate negotiated accounts for both hotels.
• Respond to Corporate Negotiated solicitations and RFP opportunities, including Hilton solicitation platforms.
• Develop new local corporate accounts through targeted prospecting and outside sales activity.
• Identify local businesses and demand generators with room-night potential for the Rosemont/O’Hare market.
• Conduct sales appointments, client presentations and hotel site inspections.
• Review account production and identify opportunities to increase room nights, ADR and hotel share.
• Work with Revenue Management to establish appropriate negotiated rates and account strategies.
• Maintain regular client contact and proactively solicit annual renewals.
• Identify opportunities to convert appropriate retail or higher-cost channel business into direct negotiated production. Business Development & Outside Sales
• Maintain an active targeted prospect list for assigned market segments.
• Spend a meaningful portion of the workweek conducting outside sales activity, client appointments and relationship development.
• Identify new demand generators throughout the O’Hare/Rosemont and surrounding markets.
• Develop leads through local business relationships, industry contacts, hotel production trends and existing account referrals.
• Maintain a measurable sales pipeline and document progress toward conversion.
• Participate in sales blitzes, networking events and client engagement opportunities when appropriate.
• Coordinate with the Director of Sales & Marketing on priority need periods and targeted business-development initiatives. Tour & Travel
• Assume primary responsibility for Tour & Travel business across both Rosemont hotels.
• Manage existing tour operator and travel accounts.
• Solicit new tour operators, receptive operators and travel partners with potential for the Rosemont/O’Hare market during low and mid seasons.
• Negotiate rates and agreements in conjunction with Director of Sales based on outlined booking parameters.
• Respond to Tour & Travel RFPs and account opportunities.
Position Type / Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position. Regular business hours are generally Monday through Friday; however, flexibility is required for client appointments, outside sales calls, networking functions and other business-development activities. Travel Local travel throughout the Rosemont/O’Hare and surrounding Chicagoland market is required. Occasional additional travel may be necessary for client meetings, industry events or account development.
Required Education and Experience
• Education: Bachelor’s degree in hospitality management, Business Administration, or related field preferred
• Minimum 3 years of hotel sales, account management or related hospitality experience preferred.
• Excels at customer-facing interactions and relationship building to shift local business travel market share to our two hotels.
• Experience with Business Travel, Airline, Tour & Travel or transient sales highly desirable.
• Hilton sales systems (including Delphi FC) and solicitation-management experience preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to prospect, negotiate and develop client relationships.
• Strong understanding of hotel rates, occupancy, room-night production and revenue concepts.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong organizational and follow-up skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and applicable hotel sales systems.
• Ability to independently manage multiple account segments across two hotels.
