Quality Assurance Manager - Food Manufacturing Plant

The Quality Assurance Manager will be responsible for maintaining the quality assurance program and all regulatory requirements at Philly’s Best Steak. The Quality Manager will be responsible for managing relationships with all relevant government and regulatory agencies, as well as leading a team of quality techs.  


Reports to: Director of Operations 

Status: Full-Time / Exempt  

Schedule: Monday – Friday   6:00 am – End   /  Weekends may be required depending on projects or other departmental needs

Occasionally, additional hours may be required to complete tasks and/or projects.  


Essential Duties/Responsibilities:  

  • Identify and set appropriate quality standards for PBS products. 
  • Deliver an audit-ready facility at all times.  
  • Manage and lead a team of quality personnel, including hiring, training, scheduling, and performance management. Training matrix and performance tracking is required. 
  • Manage in-house sanitation team, process, and cleanliness expectations. 
  • Manage company food safety programs and all relevant programs within quality. This includes, but is not limited to, annual reassessments and updates, improvements, changes of process, etc.  
  • Develop, implement, and maintain food safety and quality SOPs.  
  • Manage PBS processes to ensure compliance of all food safety and quality expectations.  
  • Primary contact with the USDA FSIS Inspector onsite and maintaining a good working relationship built on trust and respect. 
  • Lead annual audits as PBS point of contact. 
  • Conduct all monthly and annual product/environmental testing.  
  • Report, track, and improve quality metrics.  
  • Monitor and respond to customer inquiries with corrective action plans, when necessary. Monitor inquiry trends.  
  • All other duties as assigned.  
Requirements

 

  • 5 years’ experience in related field. 
  • Bachelor’s degree in food science or related field.  
  • Certifications in HACCP required. 
  • Certification in SQF required. 
  • RTE experience preferred. 
  • Experience in food facility, USDA regulated preferred. 
  • Must be knowledgeable of USDA regulations. 
  • Must be able to write reports, policies, and manuals following company standards. 
  • Must have great time management skills and keep an organized work area. 
  • Detail Oriented. 
  • Display a Positive Attitude and is a positive agent for change. 
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office 365 (Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams) 
  • Capable of Critical Thinking to provide solutions quickly and timely. 
  • Professionalism - Demonstrates a high level of professionalism in exercising judgment and discretion.
