The Role

The Physical Therapist provides family training and counseling to caregivers in a child's natural

environment, including childcare, home, appointments, community settings, and playgroups. This

role includes service coordination, evaluation and assessment, IFSP development, ongoing

assessment, and delivery of Early Intervention services requiring quali?ed personnel. The Physical

Therapist monitors and supports the child and family in accessing needed medical, social,

educational, developmental, and therapeutic services, including support in land- and water-based

settings when appropriate. The incumbent participates in multidisciplinary evaluations and provides

documentation of interventions consistent with Early Intervention Regulations. The Physical

Therapist reports directly to the Early Intervention Director.

Key Responsibilities and Essential Duties:

GENERAL

Provide family training and counseling to infants and toddlers with physical therapy

concerns or atypical development and teach caregivers strategies to support development.

Follow the Rhode Island Early Intervention Competencies

Participate in multidisciplinary evaluations, taking responsibility for assessing motor

development, and providing oral and written information to the child's parents and other

team members

Complete individual Physical Therapy evaluations based on team and family concerns,

using multidisciplinary team consensus and documenting findings in the child's IFSP.

Serve as classroom staff in developmental groups and provide leadership in toddler groups,

as directed.

Obtain consultation from other members of the team in areas outside own expertise, such

as education, social work, cognition, speech, in order to fully address the needs of

individual children on caseload

Document all activities in accordance with own licensure regulations and requirements

necessary for billing, agency policies, or early intervention regulations

Mentors Physical Therapist Assistants

Maintains licensure and professional knowledge through participation in professional

organizations, conferences and in-services

Follow all agency guidelines and department speci?c policies, i.e. sick time or vacation time

usage and call in policies, dress codes, etc. as speci?ed in personnel manual and Early

Intervention speci?c procedures

Requirements

Contract Physical Therapist

Bachelor's Degree

2-5 years' experience providing treatment to infants and toddlers in a family focused setting

Beginning Rate $70/hr.

Must have Valid R.I. PT License

Expected 10-20hrs or service per month

Must pass background check

Must have ability to obtain CPR certification

Reliable vehicle and acceptable driving record

Salary Description
70.00 per hour
