As a Maintenance Technician, you are responsible for the inspection, repair, preventative maintenance, general cleaning, and upkeep of hotel systems, equipment, facilities, and common areas. This includes completing routine preventative maintenance and general cleaning tasks to help ensure equipment, mechanical areas, workspaces, and hotel facilities remain clean, safe, organized, operational, and in good condition.


Our Maintenance Technicians are thorough professionals with a practical mindset, strong attention to detail, and a sense of urgency when responding to maintenance needs. The ideal candidate must be able to work effectively both independently and as part of a team, prioritize assigned tasks, identify and report potential issues before they become larger problems, and follow all health and safety guidelines.


The goal of this position is to maintain the hotel, its equipment, and common areas in the best possible condition through timely repairs, consistent preventative maintenance, routine general cleaning, and proactive attention to the overall condition of the property.


This position may require flexible scheduling availability.

Requirements

 

Job Requirements:

  • Perform general cleaning and preventative maintenance throughout the hotel, including mechanical and engineering areas, equipment, fixtures, common areas, and other assigned spaces to maintain a clean, safe, organized, and well-maintained property.
  • Complete scheduled preventative maintenance (PM) inspections and tasks, including inspecting, cleaning, testing, servicing, and maintaining hotel equipment and systems to help prevent breakdowns and extend equipment life.
  • Identify maintenance concerns during routine inspections and general cleaning and proactively address or report issues before they become larger operational problems.
  • Recognize, report, and correct potential safety hazards, including broken doors, railings, fire hazards, leaks, damaged equipment, and other unsafe conditions. Notify supervisors promptly of damages, deficiencies, or disturbances.
  • Complete basic plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpet, tile, flooring, and other general maintenance and repairs.
  • Complete painting, touch-ups, minor roof repairs, and other interior and exterior maintenance projects as assigned.
  • Maintain and repair pool and fitness center equipment when necessary and within the technician's scope of responsibility.
  • Maintain clean, orderly, and safe Engineering workspaces, mechanical rooms, storage areas, equipment, and tools.
  • Check stocking levels of maintenance supplies, parts, and consumables and replenish or report shortages as appropriate.
  • Work with the Chief Engineer and Management Team to identify, prioritize, and complete technical, preventative maintenance, general cleaning, and property improvement projects.
  • Respond promptly to maintenance requests from hotel departments and communicate or escalate unresolved issues to the Chief Engineer or Management Team.
  • Complete all assigned work orders and preventative maintenance tasks thoroughly and within the expected timeframe.
  • Prepare and maintain required reports, maintenance logs, preventative maintenance records, and shift documentation for the Management Team.
  • When required, report to the hotel during inclement weather to assist with exterior property maintenance, including snow removal, shoveling, ice treatment, and maintaining safe entrances and walkways.
  • Follow all hotel safety procedures, health regulations, equipment guidelines, and established Engineering Department standards.

  • Readily available and approachable for all guests while providing excellent guest service
  • Ability and willingness to respond to emergency situations on short notice
  • Responsible for knowing Hotel emergency procedures

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, sit or walk for an extended period of time. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. The number of hours you will be scheduled to work during the week is variable and is based on guest occupancy, season, staffing and other factors. Island Hospitality is unable to guarantee a specific number of work hours per week.
