Design Technology Specialist

TMP is seeking a Design Technology Specialist to take ownership of the day-to-day implementation, support, and continuous improvement of our Building Information Modeling (BIM) practices.


This is a hands-on role for someone who combines strong Revit and Autodesk Forma expertise with excellent problem-solving, communication, and follow-through. The Design Technology Specialist works closely with the Director of Design Technology and project teams across the firm to keep projects running efficiently, maintain consistent standards, resolve technical issues, and improve the way TMP uses technology to deliver its work.


The right person for this position is not simply a technical resource. They are a responsive, organized problem-solver who takes ownership of issues, follows them through resolution, communicates clearly with project teams, and proactively identifies opportunities to improve our processes.


Key Responsibilities

BIM Project Support & Coordination

  • Serve as a primary day-to-day BIM resource for TMP project teams.
  • Develop and maintain project BIM Execution Plans when appropriate.
  • Coordinate models and workflows with architects, engineers, consultants, contractors, and other project partners.
  • Perform model health reviews, coordination reviews, and clash detection as appropriate.
  • Troubleshoot Revit, Autodesk Forma, and other design technology-related issues and ensure they are resolved or appropriately escalated.
  • Support teams throughout all phases of project delivery, from project setup through construction administration and closeout.

BIM Standards & Quality

  • Maintain and administer TMP's Revit templates, standards, content libraries, workflows, and BIM documentation.
  • Monitor project compliance with firm BIM standards and client-specific requirements.
  • Work with the Director of Design Technology and project leadership to continually improve TMP's BIM standards and practices.

Training & Staff Development

  • Provide responsive technical support and coaching to architectural and interior design staff.
  • Develop and lead training on Revit, Autodesk Forma, BIM standards, and related workflows.
  • Create and maintain training resources, standards documentation, and internal knowledge resources.
  • Identify common knowledge gaps across the firm and proactively develop training or tools to address them.
  • Help improve the overall BIM capability and confidence of TMP staff.

Technology & Process Improvement

  • Evaluate tools, workflows, add-ins, and technologies that can improve project delivery.
  • Test and help implement approved technology improvements.
  • Identify opportunities to automate repetitive processes and improve efficiency.
  • Support BIM-related software deployment, configuration, testing, and troubleshooting in coordination with TMP's broader technology team.
  • Maintain awareness of evolving BIM and digital practice tools relevant to architectural practice.

Communication & Accountability

  • Communicate clearly and promptly with project teams regarding BIM issues, priorities, and resolutions.
  • Track open BIM-related issues and follow them through completion 
  • Escalate significant technical, schedule, or process risks when appropriate.
  • Build strong working relationships with staff across all project teams and experience levels.
  • Other tasks as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Strong proficiency with Autodesk Revit in an architectural production environment.
  • Strong working knowledge of Autodesk Forma.
  • Thorough understanding of architectural documentation and project delivery from design through construction.
  • Experience troubleshooting complex Revit models and project environments.
  • Understanding of BIM standards, model management, coordination, and content management.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to independently investigate and resolve technical issues.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated organization, responsiveness, initiative, and follow-through.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities while providing dependable service to project teams.
Requirements

Preferred Qualifications

  • 5+ years of professional experience in architecture, engineering, construction, or a related AEC environment.
  • Prior experience serving as a BIM Coordinator, BIM Specialist, BIM Lead, or similar role.
  • Degree, associate's degree, or technical certification related to architecture, engineering, construction, BIM, or digital design.
  • Experience with Dynamo, Python, Revit add-ins, or other workflow-automation tools.
  • Experience with Enscape, Twinmotion, or related visualization platforms.
  • Experience developing BIM standards, Revit templates, content libraries, training programs, or internal documentation.
  • Familiarity with AI and machine learning concepts or experience integrating AI tools into design or project delivery workflows is a plus.
