Caregiver
Position Summary
We are seeking a compassionate, dependable, and patient Caregiver to provide support and assistance to adults with disabilities. The caregiver will help individuals maintain their independence, safety, dignity, and quality of life while assisting with daily activities and personal needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, respectful, and person-centered care.
- Assist with activities of daily living, may include bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and personal hygiene as needed.
- Prepare meals and assist with eating and drinking when necessary.
- Provide assistance with mobility, transfers, and positioning.
- Administer or assist with medications according to established care plans and applicable requirements.
- Encourage participation in recreational, social, and community activities.
- Assist with household tasks such as laundry, cleaning, dishes, and maintaining a safe living environment.
- Monitor individuals for changes in behavior, health, or overall well-being and report concerns appropriately.
- Follow individual care plans, safety procedures, and emergency protocols.
- Maintain accurate and confidential documentation regarding care provided.
- Promote independence by encouraging individuals to participate in tasks they are able to perform themselves.
- Communicate professionally and respectfully with individuals, families, supervisors, and other care team members.
Qualifications.
- Compassionate, patient, dependable, and trustworthy.
- Ability to communicate effectively and work as part of a care team.
- Ability to safely assist with mobility and physical-care needs.
- Must be able to maintain confidentiality and respect individual privacy.
- Current CPR/First Aid certification preferred or willingness to obtain.
- Must successfully complete any required background checks, training, and employment requirements.
Physical Requirements
The caregiver may be required to stand, walk, bend, lift, assist with transfers, and perform other physical activities necessary to provide safe and effective care. Specific requirements may vary depending on the individual's needs.
Work Environment
This position may take place in a private residence, supported living environment, day program, or community setting. The caregiver should be comfortable working independently while following established care plans and safety procedures.
