COMPANY OVERVIEW: MOBIS Technical Center of North America is the Research & Development Center for Hyundai MOBIS, a Tier 1 supplier and an affiliate under Hyundai Motor Group. POSITION OVERVIEW: The Lead Brake CAE Engineer will lead and coordinate virtual analysis and simulation for vehicle braking systems with larger Mobis CAE team for local customers. They will use finite element analysis (FEA) and multi-body simulation tools to evaluate brake performance, durability, and noise, vibration, and harshness (NVH). The work will drive design decisions from early concepts to final production readiness. They will plan and execute analysis technique development and capability enhancement to improve virtual analysis support for future projects with local customers.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND SKILLS:

Typical responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Coordinate & Run Simulations: Create performance, durability, & NVH simulations for brake components and assemblies using tools like Abaqus, Nastran, or ANSYS; or coordinate the required analyses within internal partner teams to meet local project demand.
  • Analyze Results: Interpret analysis data to evaluate performance, durability, & NVH characteristics, then provide clear project recommendations.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with customer Product Development Teams (PDT), application & design engineers, NVH development engineers, and physical testing groups to validate virtual models and predict performance, durability, & NVH characteristics of braking systems.
  • Lead, Plan, & Strategize: Lead & coordinate localization effort to improve local CAE analysis software capability; work with customer to plan & execute analysis technique improvement and expand application of CAE analysis in project engineering work.
  • Report and Document: Write clear engineering reports & presentations and track simulation progress against project milestones.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS: 

In addition to the responsibilities mentioned above, tasks relating to the following area will be assigned as required.

  • 4+ years in CAE, experience and familiarity with the following common software: Abaquas, Hyperworks, Ansys motion, Python, etc.
  • Experience with both structural and NVH analysis.
  • History of working in automotive chassis systems (brakes, steering, suspension, etc.) and with North American OEMs.
  • Experience of correlating virtual results to physical test outputs.
  • Familiarity with braking system functionality.
  • Ability to adapt to new and emerging technologies.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • High level of oral and written communication skills.

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION/YEARS OF EXPERIENCE:

  • BS/MS in an Engineering discipline. Mechanical, Electrical, Computer Engineering, Physics preferred.
  • 4+ years relevant experience.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Position requires occasional or frequent moderate physical activity.

EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK:

  • A typical work week is 45 hours/week.
  • Working hours for employees are flexible with a typical day starting 7am- 9am M-F.
  • Possibility of 1 night meeting per week to coordinate with Korea.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Office work is normally performed in a typical interior work environment which does not subject the employee to any hazardous or unpleasant elements.
