Position Summary
The Assistant Warehouse Manager is a hands-on leadership position responsible for supporting the Warehouse Manager in the daily operation of a safe, efficient, organized, and service-focused warehouse. This position will work closely with the Warehouse Manager to learn and develop proficiency in all aspects of warehouse operations, including receiving, inventory control, order fulfillment, shipping, equipment operation, employee supervision, safety, quality control, and logistics.
The ideal candidate is a strong communicator and problem-solver who is willing to work alongside the warehouse team, learn every aspect of the operation, hold employees accountable to established standards, and continuously look for ways to improve safety, productivity, accuracy, and customer service.
Essential Responsibilities
Warehouse Operations & Leadership
- Assist the Warehouse Manager with planning, coordinating, and executing daily warehouse operations.
- Learn and develop proficiency in all major warehouse functions and positions to build a comprehensive understanding of the operation.
- Assist with assigning work, coordinating priorities, and adjusting workflow to meet changing business needs.
- Provide hands-on leadership, coaching, and direction to warehouse employees while promoting a positive and productive work environment.
- Assist with recruiting, onboarding, training, and cross-training warehouse employees.
- Support consistent enforcement of company policies, procedures, safety requirements, and performance expectations.
- Maintain accurate receiving, inventory, shipping, and warehouse documentation.
- Assist with preparing and analyzing warehouse reports and performance information.
- Progressively assume additional operational and leadership responsibilities as knowledge and experience develop.
Receiving, Inventory & Logistics
- Oversee and participate in the accurate receipt of products, including checking in incoming trucks and verifying shipments against purchase orders and documentation.
- Assist the Inventory Control Specialist with inventory accuracy, cycle counts, discrepancies, and reconciliation.
- Assist with receiving, storing, picking, staging, loading, and shipping products while maintaining accurate inventory records.
- Coordinate with logistics and other departments to ensure products are available when needed and deliveries are properly supported.
- Assist with maintaining an organized warehouse and maximizing the efficient use of space.
Safety, Quality & Problem Solving
- Promote a safe work environment and ensure employees follow safety procedures, equipment requirements, and chemical handling guidelines.
- Ensure proper use and maintenance of warehouse equipment and promptly report safety hazards, equipment issues, or other concerns.
- Help maintain a clean, organized, and professional warehouse.
- Assist with quality control procedures and resolve operational, inventory, or service issues promptly.
- Identify recurring problems and recommend improvements to reduce errors, delays, and inefficiencies.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in warehouses, distribution, logistics, inventory, or a related operational environment.
- Previous leadership, supervisory, or lead experience preferred.
- Strong communication, leadership, organizational, and time-management skills.
- Ability to learn and effectively use warehouse management, inventory, and computer systems.
- Ability and willingness to operate warehouse equipment safely following appropriate training.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, hands-on warehouse environment.
- Ability to work in varying temperatures, including heat and cold, while performing job duties.
- Strong work ethic, dependability, initiative, and willingness to learn all aspects of the warehouse operation.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and move for extended periods
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
Compensation & Benefits
- Pay: $24/hour
